Tugay Still The Most Wanted Rover

Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll, suggested by IsraeliRover asked "The following player's contracts soon expire. Who would you most like to keep?" We voted in favour of Tugay.

He may be advancing in years but Tugay, with almost half of the vote (41% in fact) is the Rover that is nearing the end of his current contract that most would still want to keep.

Not a lot could separate Dutch International Andre Ooijer (24%) and up and coming Irish International Tony Kane (14%) for much of the poll until Ooijer stretched away as both were by far the ones that were most wanted after the Maestro.

Bruno Berner (8%), Stephane Henchoz (5%) and the men least wanted Peter Enckelman (4%) and Andy Taylor (4%) completed the poll.

So in summary
Peter Enckelman - 4%
Bruno Berner - 8%
Andy Taylor - 4%
Stephane Henchoz - 5%
Andre Ooijer - 24%
Tony Kane - 14%
Tugay - 41%

August saw Rovers score some cracking goals so the current poll, inspired by The Rovers Players is asking, "What was August's Top Goal?" Who wins, you decide.

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findings.

Despite his advancing years the Maestro would probably still be my pick from the lot, and was the one I voted for. Although I would also like Rovers to keep Andre Ooijer, Tony Kane, Bruno Berner and Andy Taylor. However, I fear Taylor's number is up?!?!
I have nothing against Peter Enckelman or Stephane Henchoz but I don't think they would be missed much so I can easily see these two almost certainly being released.

Henchoz, in my opinion, was 7 years ago one of the top 5 CB in England:Great vision. marvellous technique etc... Now he's old and perhaps make room for Nolan/Zurab?
IsraeliRover
I voted for Berner. I'm not sure many would agree... but in pre season he looked fit and like a proper player. not the unfit mess he was last year... watch this space when he comes back.
MikeyGamst
Berner's former coach once stated that he could possibly play anywhere...We need him for cover at LB.
IsraeliRover
He is a lot better than he has showed...
MikeyGamst
The question is for what position does Sparky consider him- probably only the LB spot...
IsraeliRover
I do like Berner and do feel that the view MANY have of him is wrong, he is a much better player than he is given credit for.
In an ideal world no one would go, but needs must at times so as I said Peter Enckelman and/or Stephane Henchoz would be my top ones to make way.
Hughes Da Man
I voted for Ooijer. I would have gone for Tug's but his advancement of years, and the fact he would be used sparingly, and therefore would it be worth the weekly wage. However, the same could be said for all the players on the list, but think he would command the highest salary. However, I do think it is important to keep him at the club after he retires. His experience could only benefit the up and coming rover starletts, and indeed present first team players.
Decimus Poole
Could not agree more about the keeping him at Rovers part dude, that is VITALLY important.
Hughes Da Man
i'm thankful he's banned for the game against us on Saturday!
