Becks Is Becks And Bents Is Bents

Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley has all the attributes needed to be a successful England International, Rovers fans know that as does Mark Hughes, but he has stressed he is not a Beckham clone.

Many comparisons have been made between Beckham and Bentley (who was called up for the upcoming England matches, something that did not please everyone), and although both are quality footballers (Beckham world-class) both are different in so many ways, as they are alike in others. Bentley has the best delivery that I have seen from an Englishman since Beckham, that is said without biased or unjust opinion but Beckham is Beckham and Bentley is Bentley, a point Hughes is keen to highlight.

Hughes told the Sun. “Don't just label Bentley a David Beckham clone - he has a lot to his game and is a different player.

“Every day he comes in and tries to improve and make himself better.

“I've worked with David Beckham as well and I know that was a big quality of his.

“So if there is a similarity it's the way they approach their work in a professional manner
.”

If England are looking for a replacement for Beckham then there is no better man than Bentley for these upcoming games, and there is every chance he could start (however, he probably wont knowing Steve McClaren) as his form over the last 12 months or more has earned him this.

I agree completely with this from Hughes.... It wont do Bentley any good to be considered the same player as Beckham. He needs to differentiate himself for him to become a regular in the England set up....

He is very similar and in some ways that can only be a good thing because look what Beckham has acheived, but Bents is more attack minded, ie can run with the ball and take players on. He will soon have his own following, that I am sure of.

I believe he has his own small following (us) but if he is given the chance on Saturday HE NEEDS TO TAKE IT

Personally I am CERTAIN that Bents will take it IF (that big if) he gets that chance, which hopefully he will.
