Rovers Representation

In an untimely rant that totally contradicts the smart work of our esteemed editor, Hughes Da Man, I have a certain gripe about the current representation of Rovers on one particular medium.

Now I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiments of Hughes Da Man, that representation of Rovers is slowly improving however, I cannot help but feel appalled by the complete lack of disrespect shown towards Rovers by the powers that be on Match Of The Day.

Some of you may have noticed a few comments made by myself and HDM about the fact that, following intense scrutiny, Rovers do not appear to be represented on the opening titles of the illustrious show.

Now why is this? Club emblems, star players, familiar faces are all present symbolising the host of Premier League in this years competition but there appears to have been an oversight when they considered last season`s FA Cup semi finalists and top ten team, Blackburn Rovers.

We have never been a fashionable club, even when we were lifting the Premiership crown, but this surely is a little too much to take.

For years we have vented our angst about the paltry clips afforded to Rovers, normally shunned to the end of the programme, but for titles of the famous show to fail to at the very least acknowledge Blackburn is poor.

Now, in order to prevent the wise cracks from some 'witty` fans, the referee issuing a red card is not representation of Rovers.

I challenge all Rovers fans out there to carefully analyse the opening titles to see if Rovers are indeed shown, but I am yet to see them!

Let the campaign for Rovers` equal representation begin!

Noo i thort i didn't see any blackburn but last nite MOTD2 i saw a picture card of benni on the starting credits.
roverjoy
Are the Match of the Day 2 credits the same as the Match of the Day opening credits?!?! I might be wrong but I don't think they were last season?
When I've examined the credits (since roversman told me about it) I have been unable to see any Rovers related, I will have to look again!
Hughes Da Man
I wonder if they have updated it then because on MOTD 2 early in season I couldn't see anything. Needs further investigation me thinks.
roversman
It is disgusting!!!! the motd 2 credits are different to the main motd credits. We dont appear at all on the motd stuff and I for one think it just plain ignorant for a channel that is suppose to stay unbiased....
MikeyGamst
Alternatively, Let as many people as possible think of Rovers as unimportant, unfashionable, etc. Those who really matter know otherwise and we will show the others where it matters, by doing our talking on the pitch and being above the 'fashionistas' in the final premiership table/FA cup/UEFA cup. To be fair, all commentators on MOTD2 this week did praise Rovers.

About time too waterfall.... mark Lawrenson is the worst guy for hiding bias ever!!!! lol
MikeyGamst
Well it's the same over here in Dubai - we get coverage of every match live, which is good...but Showtime seems to promote every game except one - you guessed it, BR vs ?. Even this last Sunday their advertising was "We have 3 great live games for your enjoyment, starting with Arsenal vs Portsmouth, and then Chelsea take on Aston Villa." End of ad.
Desert Kiwi
I was going to mention something about not showing 'violence, or violent related things' before the watershed, but as MOTD is on after the watershed, it doesn't fathom. However, it could be to do with the repeat on a Sunday morning...? Hmmmmmmmmm...
Decimus Poole
Maybe they dub out the violence on Sunday morning???? lol... it is pathetic the attitude that some parts of the media take... its the same for Wigan and Bolton as well... not fashionable = no coverage!!!
