Rovers Face Larissa In The UEFA Cup

Having seen off MyPa on Thursday Evening Blackburn Rovers assured a place in the UEFA Cup proper. The draw was made this lunchtime and Rovers have been drawn against Larissa.

After an earlier pre-draw, a seeded Rovers side could have faced:

NK Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia)
FK Mlada Boleslav (Czech Republic)
Lokomotiv Sofia (Bulgaria)
Larissa (Greece)
Hammarby (Sweden)

The First Round draw saw Larissa as Rovers' opponents. The First leg will take place in Greece, with the Second leg two weeks later at Ewood Park.

Look out for further information on Rovers' opponents Larissa from my right hand man roversman in due course. He ALWAYS supplies us with awesome information on European opponents.

I may be stealing the thunder here from roversman, and I am sure this will be in his pre-match review, but Giorgos Donis manages Larrisa. He was one of my favourite Rovers players, back in the day. I hope we give him a nice welcome upon his return.

This will not be as easy as some think. Larrisa have a good reputation now in cup football, they won the Greek 'F.A.' Cup this year. They are very ambitious, this summer they have signed 9 new players, including Babayoko, breaking the clubs transfer record. Dabizas plays for them and the Italian Marcelo Sarmiento. I believe that they have a new stadium and are out to make a name for themselves. We will have to convert more chances than we did last night. Was anyone else as frustrated as I was by the way we missed shooting opportunitie? Players don't seem to realise that by putting in that extra pass (to try and make sure of a goal) that then gives the opposing defence another chance to block, which they invariably did. More first time shots please, especially when near the edge of the penalty box.

Blackburn Confirm Caddis Arrival

Caddis, who left Bury at the end of a short deal, was given his chance due to his previous with Blackburn boss Mowbray at Celtic. But the ex-Birmingham full back has secured a deal.

Samuel Signing Sealed

Blackburn have signed Reading forward Dominic Samuel, who once worked with Mowbray at Coventry - also loaned to Colchester, Dagenham and Gillingham, ending last season at Ipswich.

Just Saying, But What If....

Blackburn will do well under the boss. However, for arguments sake, if Rovers didn't secure an instant Championship return what would happen to Mowbray?

Caddis At The Double

Caddis has now spent the past three weeks with Blackburn, joining the club in Austria last week, and Mowbray, his boss at Celtic earlier in his career, is close to making his decision.
