Surely Bentley Will Get In This Time

Surely Bentley Will Get In This Time

Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley served his punishment for withdrawing from the England squad for the European Under-21 Championships by being left out of the senior England squad for the friendly with Germany recently.

However, especially with David Beckham set to miss out through injury along with Tottenham Hotspur's Aaron Lennon, Bentley will SURELY be named in Steve McClaren's England squad for the crucial European Championship Qualifiers with Israel and Russia.

All Rovers followers, as well as many non-Rovers followers know that Bentley SHOULD have been in the senior England International set-up long ago, but if McClaren decides against him this time (especially with the previously mentioned injury problems) then there can almost certainly NEVER be any way for him in under McClaren.

Personally I'm going to go for it and sat he WILL be called up!
If he isn't then Stevie Mac is more of a ***** than I ever knew he was, and he will NEVER get in until that useless tosser is sacked!!!

Anyone that turns down the chance to represent his country should never be picked again

He might have a chance of a call up, with Beckham and Dyer being injured. There aren't that many English midfielders to choose from! The midfield should be 4 of the following: Lampard, Gerrard, J. Cole, Bentley, Carrick, Hargreaves (even though he has limited playing for Manure...), Wright Phillips. However, Jenas will probably get a call up over Bentley.

unfortunately Decimus, you are prob right. He will pick Lennon and SWP as the wide right options with Jenas spare!

alphieblues - Had Bentley been playing for whoever you support I BET you would not feel that same if his decision benefited them (and England in the long-run) it's EASY to say what you did when they don't play for your side!!!

Hey HUGHESDM I would feel just the same if it was one of our players. This is the reason why the England team fails at all the major competitions, they are overpaid and only play when it suits them and retire from Internationals when they have had enough e.g Shearer, Scholes, Carragher etc. You don't find the Brazilians and Italians retiring from International foot ball and that is why they win the competitions and we don't. We should only pick players who WANT to play.

But that is exactly the point Bents WANTS to play for England but that *****er Stevie Mac wasn't picking him!!! It is not like he didn't want to play for the Under-21's, it was that he couldn't do it physically!
