Intertoto Cup A Benefit To Rovers

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has once again stressed how he thinks Rovers' early start to the season, due to the clubs participation in the Intertoto Cup will help them.

By starting the season earlier than some others Rovers hit the ground running when the Premiership season kicked off, and this seems to be paying off as Rovers have made a fine start to the season, as opposed to the usual sluggish start, not kicking on for a good month or so. Rovers almost always end the season strongly, so with the high fitness levels demanded by players at the club fatigue SHOULDN'T play a part at the end of the season also.

Hughes told Sky Sports News: "We've felt the two competitive games in the pre-season programme have helped to give us the start we've had in the Premier League.

"We've been happy with that start. It's been an improvement in recent years so we're reaping the benefits of it
."

I've already said more that once that this early start could be the best thing to happen to Rovers and I genuinely think Rovers are reaping the benefits, and will continue to for the rest of the season.
MANY players that have taken part in the Intertoto Cup in the past said it was the best Pre-Season they have had.

Yes totally agree and thought it would too. At last not propping up the premiership at the start of september. Tough game against the Manc City tho, will be a real test and will show where we are going this season.

It has started us off well but the one thing we will see is if it burns us out towards the end i.e. Bar codes last year...

I can't see that happening dude, as like I've said Rovers are a VERY fit outfit, Sparky demands this so I don't think it will catch up with Rovers, quite the opposite, but we'll see.
