Hughes: Tugay STAYING With Rovers

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has moved to quash speculation linking Tugay with a move to West Ham United.

David Dunn and Robbie Savage may well be Hughes' preferred midfield combination at the moment, which might have meant Tugay has not featured at all in the Premiership thus far this season but this DOESN'T mean that he has no future with the club, quite the opposite.

Savage is always going to be in the team, it is just a case of who starts alongside him, and so far it has been Dunn and he has been superb so it is hard for Hughes to leave him out. However, Tugay could be set for a recall to the starting XI against MyPa in Thursday Evenings UEFA Second Round Second leg Qualifying tie at Ewood Park, and it is probably in the UEFA Cup this season when Tugay will be at his most dangerous, and even effective.

Dismissing the transfer talk of the Maestro to West Ham (or anyone else) Sparky told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I've no idea where that has come from.

"He's one who would love to be playing at the moment, and he may well get a chance tomorrow.

"He knows how we feel about him, we love him, he's technically one of the best players in the club and the Premiership.

"He's at the twilight of his career and wants to play, but he's very happy. He's at a stage where he will get a number of games.

"He knows that, and there's very few players of his ilk, so you can't afford to let them go
."

It was ALWAYS complete nonsense regarding the Maestro and the Hammered anyway, the injury to Kieron Dyer might have increased their need for a midfielder but he was NEVER going to leave, but it is good to hear Sparky say this anyway.

Tugay begged to stay under Souness, why would he leave and have to start all over again... it's just total nonense... rumour has it thta he'll get a game tonight - maybe only 60 mins but still valuable playing time.

i think i would cry if he left for west sham, or anyone else, talking of tugay tho my liverpool supporting mate saw him in starbucks yesterday, my mate lives in bramhall where all the footy players live. he said he looked abt 200!! b*****d i told him where to go though!

Tugay wont leave to for the Hammered, sure they may offer some silly money but hes playing in Europe with us in wot could be his last yr! I hope Rovers offer him some sort of coaching role at the club after he does hang up his boots, his talent is one that should be passed on to younger lads

This is absolute nonsense guys, lets not entertain it anymore. No Rovers player will ever move to the Hammered in the near future, not unless they have no ambition, want lots of money and put their feet and play a few games a season, oh and if there name is Lucas!

Please don't leave love this guy wish we could freeze him and keep him forever just unfreezing him when he needs to play, will not be the same without Tugs and Brad shame they are pushing on, forever young boys.

he turned down a big move to Qatar a few years back that would of tripled his wages!!! The man is loyal and a sure will not be leaving...
