Rovers Hit with £100,000 Fine

Blackburn Rovers have been hit with a £100,000 fine from the Football Association for their poor disciplinary record during the 2006-2007 Season, following on from a poor record the season before.

Rovers were handed a suspended fine after 2005-2006 season, but after failing to show an acceptable improvement in their record last season this fine was slapped on Rovers (this fine will be music to some people's ears, with MANY believing that that is justice served on "Dirty Blackburn Rovers.") Of course Rovers deserved more than some of the cards handed out last season, but so many were handed out as a result of dissent at some shocking decisions, with it still my own personal opinion that previous reputations are still more than held against the club.

We would all agree that Rovers can be a physical side, but I can't agree with the opinion that they are over physical or even violent as has been the tag for so long. A few years back (definitely during the 2005-2006 season) Rovers did all they could to fight off (quite literally at times) relegation, but mud sticks and as hard as they try it can't be washed away. Personally I have gone past caring how people view Rovers, we know the truth and that is all that matters isn't it!!!

Bolton Wanderers were the only other Premier League side handed a fine, however, Chelsea, West Ham United and Wigan Athletic were sent letters of warning.

Here is a full list of the FA Punishments:
Blackburn: Fined £100,000 (including £70,000 suspended from 2005/06), with a further fine of £50,000 in place for the 2007/08 season.
Millwall: Fined £30,000 (including £20,000 suspended from 2005/06), with a suspended fine of £30,000 in place for 2007/08.
Chester: Fined £13,000 (including £10,000 suspended from 2005/06), with a suspended fine of £10,000 in place for 2007/08.
Barnet: Suspended fine of £5,000 from 2005/06 invoked, with a further £5,000 carried forward to 2007/08.
Bolton: Fined £20,000 (with a further £40,000 suspended)
Leeds: Fined £15,000 (£30,000 suspended)
West Brom: Fined £10,000 (£30,000 suspended)
Huddersfield: Fined £7,500 (£20,000 suspended)
Accrington: Fined £50,000 (£5,000 suspended)
Wycombe: Fined £5,000 (£5,000 suspended)

what a load of rubbish.... our reputation proceeds us when it comes to refs making decisons, they book players to keep players under control.. Some of the red cards dished out are obviously deserved i.e. Ryan at the weekend but ones like Dave Bentley v West Ham last year and Robbie's against Boro 2 seasons ago (these ones are off the top of my head) were completely farcical. But your right peeps will have a field day.

Andy Todd got sent off last season (?) which was overturned. Does that count towards our total? Unfortunately, our undeserved reputation goes before us. If Savage had made the tackle Van Persie made on Warnock at weekend, it would have been red. Studs up and very late. However, statistics don't lie, and it appears we are a violent team afterall... :-)
Decimus Poole
dont be silly decimus poole... we play in a fairy league where diving and theatrics take place. And the people that are competitive and aggressive get punished more then the ACTUAL cheats.
MikeyGamst
i remember somone on here pointing out a statistic that points out that blackburn have the lowest foul to card ratio in the whole premier league ie we commit fewer fouls before a card is issued! mikey you forget henchoz against newcastle last year and roberts at spurs are another two and the debatable tugay against spurs at home aswell!
durks de rover
Atleast you put it HDM, others would've tried to cover it! Thanks, more ammunition for winding up my Rovers following mate. Hehehehehe
saisho
debatable to say the least!!!! the other 2 were not exactly grade A violence were they?!?!?
MikeyGamst
You are right, we are soo unfairly treated by the refs and ones like Tugay's against Spurs are typical.
Wellsy
durks that was me, and it is one of those things that very few consider when condeming rovers. Alas, I am tired of seeing some of our boys leaving their foot in too much but the amount of cards we receive compared to the amount of fouls made is poor. The top teams do have a licence to commit more fouls before a card is issued. However, in fairness you can't complain with the fine.
roversman
yeah are disciplinary record wasnt good at all but if for instacne are name was man United and they did the same they would pick up far less bookings.

you dirty feckers :-)
