Bentley The Most Underrated

Vital Blackburn's most recent poll, suggested by Clint asked your opinion on the "Most underrated players?" This players is believed to be Rovers' David Bentley.

With more than half of the vote, 54% in fact most people see David Bentley as the man who is most underrated. Do we think this because he is overlooked for England (and has been for so long, EVEN before the so called snub on the Under-21's gave Steve McClaren what he sees as a genuine reason) or because he is overlooked as he plays for Rovers, or do we just think that he is underrated full stop for whatever reason?

Following him came Brett Emerton, with 25%. He might not be the greatest right-back in the world, but he is by no means the worst, and all to often he is not credited for the performances he does put in. Bentley's form last season owed A LOT to Emerton's contribution as well.

Wayne Bridge with 6% headed the rest of the field, which could not really be split after this, which concluded the poll as such, other (6%), Jermaine Defoe (3%), David Beckham (2%), Jamie Carragher (2%) and David Healy (2%).

When Clint submitted the poll (some time ago) he also submitted this along with it, which gives brief reasoning why they were in the poll in the first place.

1 - David Bentley - by a certain England Manager
2 - David Beckham - For his football?? and again by a certain England manager
3 - Jermaine Defoe - Far, far better than his role at Spurs as 3rd striker and England bit part.??
4 - Jamie Carragher - Should he have started alongside Terry for England??
5 - Wayne Bridge - Should he be number1 at Chelsea and for England??
6 - David Healy - Ferguson once said he was the best finisher he'd ever seen and he's proved himself with NI but never got his big chance with club side.
7 - Brett Emerton - still has his doubters with Rovers fans

So in summary
David Bentley - 54%
David Beckham - 2%
Jermaine Defoe - 3%
Jamie Carragher - 2%
Wayne Bridge - 6%
David Healy - 2%
Brett Emerton - 25%
Other - 6%

The next poll, is a hypothetical poll (although I guess the vast majority are anyway!) and is suggested by IsraeliRover, with it is asking, "Which championship player would you bring in before the transfer window closes?"

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findings…

Personally I voted for Wayne Bridge. As much as I know Bents DOESN'T get the full credit he deserves, I think that Bridge is a superb left-back that SHOULD play first team football wherever he is, and is terribly underrated. I think he is as good, if not better than Ashley Cole who is regarded as England’s finest left-back.

I don't overly see Bentley as being underrated, because if he was underrated then we wouldn't be hearing stories about him narrowly missing out on an England place. Healy on the other hand is top scorer in the European qualifiers and has been scoring key goals for Northern Ireland for years now (winner against England, hat-trick against Spain, etc...) And yet the only reason he got a premiership move is because Lawrie Sanchez happened to take over Fulham. That's why I went for Healy

I do hope the irony in this poll isn't lost on any of you! ;)

I wouldn't say Bentley is underrated. I think he is rated perfectly. I would have gone with Wayne Bridge, and therefore, in hindsght, I should have voted. Not hat my one vote would have made too much difference...

I voted for Brett Emerton... has been one of our best players the last season and a bit and barely gets a mention anywhere. But failing that must agree that Bridge is a great choice.

Yeah, having a lot of your Clubs players in the England team is all good...until they break feet and/or pick up injuries. Then it´s not too feckin fun.

Emerton would have got my vote ahead of Bents, but as it was (as I said) I voted for Bridge, CRIMINALLY underrated!!!
Hughes Da Man
That is the hazard isnt it Blue is the Colour??? Its the price to pay though for representing your country sometimes unfortuantely...

Although the amount of players that pull out of their national team with injury on Wednesday and ae fine on sat is incredible.
