No Rovers Move For Barnett

No Rovers Move For Barnett

According to the Lancashire Telegraph they say Blackburn Rovers have dismissed speculation that Rovers are on the verge of signing Liverpool youngster Richie Barnett, despite reports to the contrary.

Liverpool's double FA Youth Cup winner Barnett has been on trial with Rovers (also apparently having training with Newcastle United as well) and played for the reserves as a trialist earlier in the week in the 4-1 defeat to Stalybridge Celtic

It was looking as thought the much sought after youngster might be set for a permanent deal at Ewood Park, however, it is claimed that Rovers Chairman John Williams has rubbished reports that he is about to complete a move to Ewood. Although this might just be that an imminent move to Ewood was not about to take place, which doesn't necessarily mean it won't still happen at some point?!?!

Meanwhile Williams has confirmed that there have been a large number of applications for the vacant fitness post at Ewood.

Tony Strudwick was poached away by Manchester United this week so the position needs filling, and the numbers applying are promising as is the quality of these applicants.

Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph:

"There have been some top quality applicants to replace him."

Personally I do not know much about Barnett, but if he was good enough I think that he WOULD sign for Rovers. Not to say he still won't?!?!
It was a shame Tony Strudwick was lost to Manure, but when they come calling people don't often say no do they!!!
Teams like Manure will ALWAYS want the best so if they don't have them they look elsewhere. Unfortunately for Rovers this time the best happened to be at Ewood Park. However, Rovers WILL replace him with a quality fitness coach though.

Shame to lose Tony think we have a very good backroom set up, but sounds like a lot of interest so the right guy will come along. Never heard of Barnett either maybe he didn't perform as expected in training and that game, or it is to stop people thinking that we are bidding so they are going to have to.
