Blackburn Rovers Manager Mark Hughes is happy going into the 2007-2008 Premiership season off the back of a 3-0 victory over Preston North End this afternoon.
Thanks to goals from the Rovers defenders, a double from Christopher Samba (who has been among the goals in Pre-Season!!!) and a further goal from Andre Ooijer (who has also scored a couple) Rovers overcame Preston at Deepdale and can look forward to the curtain raiser with Middlesbrough with a victory behind them, following two successive Pre-Season defeats (sandwiched between two Intertoto Cup victories!!!)
Hughes was pleased with what he saw, and believes it proved the perfect tonic for the season ahead. He told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website:
"It was excellent, it was exactly what I wanted from the game today.
"There are seven days to go, we were a little bit disappointed with the performance in midweek so today we made sure we did alright and I thought we were excellent in all areas.
"We are seven days away from the start of the Premiership and if you are going to get results in the Premier League you need a good base.
"Today we showed we have a real defensive solidity to our play at the moment and that is what we need to take into the Premier League next week.
"Today we understood the importance of getting a good workout and I think we showed the benefit of the competitive games that we've had."

There are youngsters coming through, but UNLIKE Spurs our players have gelled over the past few years, so SHOULDN'T need time for this. Going backwards?!?! bull*****, only place we are oging now if FORWARD (not that I am saying Spurs aren't either though.)
