Berner An Injury Doubt For Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have been handed a blow ahead of the coming season with the news that Bruno Berner might have broken, or at least damaged a foot metatarsal?

The Swiss utility player (who can literally play almost ANYWHERE) was handed a start by Mark Hughes in Wednesday Evening's defeat to Huddersfield Town, but a foot injury sustained in the 2-1 loss is of major concern to Hughes, and the Rovers squad.

With the new season a little over a week away injuries are the last thing you want to pick up, and it is quite possible that Berner has broken a metatarsal (made famous by David Beckham and more recently Wayne Rooney), which is something that he has done before, and if he has he will probably be looking at a couple of months out injured.

Berner will undergo and X-ray today, but Sparky has admitted he is cornered. He told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website:

"There's a little bit of concern.

"He felt something in his foot, and he's had a metatarsal before, so we're hopeful that it isn't a reoccurrence of that.

"He was able to walk which was something he wasn't able to do apparently when he did it before.

"We're hopeful that it hasn't gone completely, he's going for an X-ray on Thursday morning, so we'll be guided by that, obviously the way he pulled up there would be a concern about that
."

All we can do is keep our fingers crossed that is isn't too serious, but you would have to be a little worried wouldn't you ANYTIME a player pulls up with any kind of foot injury, as it is usually the blasted metatarsal!!!
He might not have played much last season, but he was a quality addition to the squad last season, and let us not forget he is International class, and provides ideal back up to first choice left-back Stevie W, and other areas on the field.

all i can say is YAY im glad he is injured.

NAh he will not be missed as much as warnock but he can cover the left back role and left midfield role, which we don't have much cover for. U cannot really say much about Bruno coz we haven't really seen the player.

Derbyshire4England you are a wally, and you've probably never even seen him play. Because you don't know who a player doesn't mean they're rubbish! In the Premiership, the stronger the squad the better. Sparky saw it fit to bring this player to Ewood, and as we all know, 'in Sparky we trust.'

Derbyshire4England - Dude that is NOT cool, I can't believe you said that, I really can't!!! How could you want one of your own players to be injured?!?!
Berner is a seasoned International, who although not seen much here is a superb footballer.
