Rovers Slip To 2-1 Defeat

After all the attention surrounding Blackburn Rovers over the past couple of days we were brought crashing back down to earth this Evening with a heavy bump.

The excitement and enthusiasum following the Intertoto Cup victory over VK Vetra, along with the mass publicity the official unveiling of Roque Santa Cruz gained the club, as the Paraguayan International looked on we were dealt a reality check as we succumbed to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to League One side Huddersfield Town this Evening.

In what was largely an experimental side (as you would expect for Pre-Season) a double from Luke Beckett (including one VERY controversial goal, which could have easily been ruled out for a foul on Morten Gamst Pedersen, who was fouled as he attempted to shield the ball out of play) could only be responded to with a late Jason Roberts goal as Rovers suffered their second successive Pre-Season defeat, with two victories over Vetra in the Intertoto Cup sandwiched in-between.

In the grander scale of things this is only Pre-Season, and to a certain degree results do not matter that much, but you NEVER want to lose so Mark Hughes will be disappointed at suffering a defeat to side two Divisions below Rovers.

Meanwhile Rovers (reserve) goalscoring machine Joe Garner could be in line for a loan move to the Scottish top flight side this season?

The 19-year-old (fresh from a hat-trick in the Lancashire Senior Cup Final win) continues to bang in the goals in the reserves but the real test of first team football is needed and it is being suggested that a loan move to Dundee United might happen???

As I say what happens in Pre-Season to a degree becomes irrelevant when the season kicks-off, but a defeat is still a defeat. However, this will soon be forgotten when the season comes round, especially if Rovers kick-off with a victory (as I expect them to!!!)
GET Joe Garner out on loan I say, and if this could be at a top flight Scottish side ALL the better!!!

Joe Garner has been touted as a talent for at least 3 seasons, in fact i remember the week derbyshire signed for rovers and IMSC Garner was mentioned in the same program. He needs playing experience at first team level and ideally championship level would be best but SPL would be next, I think hes better than the fizzy pop leagues tbh

One more pre season game and we need to get it right, with confidence bound to suffer. Pre season or not, teams from the third tier of English football should not be getting a victory over a strong Premiership lineup that we fielded last night!

This is what Blackburn really need will have a good game against Preston, and will then but nicely in their stride for Middlesbrough. I it will be still a good work out for the fringe players.

I am not so optimistic. It should have been our forwards who were 'scoring for fun'. "Full team" doesn't tell us which strikers failed. How long was Derbyshire on the pitch?

I haven't done an in-depth match report, as that isn't me area but as my man roversman is away at the moment I just knocked up something quickly.
I have to admit game time is the most important thing at this moment isn't it, but two successive Pre-Season defeats needs to be addressed i te next match doesn't it, as we don't want to go into the Middlesbrough game having lost three Pre-Season games on the trot (even though we beat VK Vetra twice in the Intertoto)
If that hairy guy in the image was playing for Huddersfield though, no wonder we lost LOL!

Pre-Season is just about looking at players, and trying different things really isn't it.

It was a mixture of players... Berner at left wing. Rigters on right wing. Gally up front. Brown in net... wasnt a full strength team that is for sure.... not bothered bout the result, neither is Hughes.

Ayup guys...back from my break. Saw the highlights fropm the match and the goals we conceded were awful! Plus Gamsts miss...I reckon we will be seeing more of that.
