Rovers Reserves Bring Home The Cup

Blackburn Rovers' reserves won the Lancashire Senior Cup on Tuesday Evening after the eventual mauling of Bolton Wanderers.

Glyn Hodges' troops eventually ran out convincing 6-2 winners over their Bolton counterparts to lift the Cup, but there was a down side to this, Sergio Peter was stretchered off after only five minutes after a heavy challenge. However, X-rays later revealed no serious damage, merely heavy bruising.

A hat trick from Joe Garner (another promising striker that I am hoping to get the chance in the next year or so that Matt Derbyshire did, as I GENUINELY think he could have a similar impact), and goals from another VERY highly rated youngster Raffaele De Vita, Andy Taylor and Alan Judge completed the rout.

It was not all one way traffic for Rovers though, as they were twice pegged back as the scored stood level 2-2 at half time, but in the second half the extra quality and experience Rovers possessed told as four goals were scored and the first piece of Silverware (hopefully not the only!!!) was won by the club this season.

This is a VERY good way for not only the reserves, but Rovers as a whole to start the season. Fingers crossed all levels can build on this and take confidence from it.
Joe Garner is a kid that I really do hope can get a chance with this club as he scores goals for fun at reserve level (as much like Derbs did), and did well when he went out on loan last season, maybe doing the same again this season will see EVERYONE benefit?!?!
I'm not sure how much we can read into this (as maybe it is just a case of using Pre-Season with the reserves and seniors to build up sharpness etc.) but Sparky doesn't often let his senior players have much involvement with the reserves, some may have played last week but that was a friendly. Sergio Peter's playing to me suggests that he may well not have much of a part to play this season, which would then maybe cast doubts over his long-term future?!?! It's probably just me reading to much into nothing though!!!

Great victory much more silverware to come this season hopefully, Sergio keeps getting injured hasn't he had to go off early the past two games? Yeah De vita and Garner going to be great is Garner related to Simon?

He's a scorer like him, but although I may be wrong I'm pretty sure he isn't.
Yeah, you are right dude, the last two games have seen Sergio taken off injured.
