Don't Forget The Rovers Reserves

The Blackburn Rovers reserves often get overlooked, but a few gentle reminders from the Official Blackburn Rovers Website have reminded me we really do have a decent reserve team as well!!!

As well as having some youth (and quality youth coming through at that!) to select from Rovers Reserve Manger Glyn Hodges is also fielding several first team squad members tonight in his latest Pre-Season friendly.

These including recognised first team squad regulars (and often first team players) such Zurab Khizanishvili, Sergio Peter, Paul Gallagher and Francis Jeffers, with fellow first team squad members Frank Fielding, Tony Kane and Eddie Nolan (with soon will be first team squad member Martin Olsson also playing).

You can't get the same quality from playing reserve football, but this will give players a further chance to impress Mark Hughes ahead of the new season as players jostle for positions in his first team squad and then matchday sixteen.

You would expect a fair few of these names to play some part for Rovers this season in the first team wouldn't you?!?!
Personally I believe that youngsters such as Tony Kane, Eddie Nolan (pictures above in case people didn't know?!?!) and Martin Olsson are not far away (or at least shouldn't be far away) from getting MUCH closer the actually making the first team squad on matchday's.

Yeah I agree too and can't wait for Garner to come through he is going to be great, isn't Olsson meant to be the next big thing at full back. Anyone remember that Gavin Gunning we signed he is like my age 16 i think, we battled Chelsea for him any news on his progress.

Garner is another player I'm REALLY looking forward to coming through. Like Derbs he socres goals for fun in the reserve, and did OK when he went out on loan last season. Is VERY similar to Derbs, and if given the chance in the next year or so feel he'll take it.
Yeah, Olsson is said to be the dogs nuts, so he is also a player I REALLY look forward to coming through, as I do Nolan and Keith Treacy. We certainly have the talent, I just HOPE they get a chance.

Eddie Nolan will surely get a shout at some point, Martin Olsson I feel is more next season than this.... please please please can we use Paul Gally a bit more this year.... he is a real asset on his day.

I would have to agree with everything you have said Mikey, Nolan will SURELY get a look in at some stage this season. As for Gally, he is a real class act and deserves to be used more, he seemed to VANISH off the face of the earth towards the end of last season, apart from about 30 seconds against Spurs.
Hughes Da Man
He was man of the match in the away game against Everton when we lost 1-0 and he got bought off on the hour mark for no reason!!! lol
