Vetra Will Be No Stroll In The Park

Blackburn Rovers WILL NOT be taking VK Vetra lightly when they are faced in the Intertoto Cup 3rd Round 1st Leg on Sunday evening, with Mark Hughes warning his players against complacency.

The vast majority of people expect Rovers to win this tie, and win it comfortably, and although this may prove the case it is essential that the club are watchful of their opponents (even though they are currently sixth out of ten sides in their Lithuanian League!!!) and complacency doesn't set in, as we know all too well from many results last season what happens when this happens!!!

The Rovers Boss told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website:

"We can't afford to (be complacent) they are right in the middle of their season, they've played eighteen games whereas we've had two, so we've got to be mindful of that.

"In pre-season games even the fact that an opposition side possibly had a couple of games more than you can sometimes make a marked difference. So we are aware that match fitness wise and match play wise they could be very much up to speed whereas we are not quite there at the moment.

"But we feel the games we've had have been good ones, two decent games that have brought us on so we full expect us at the weekend to improve again
."

As you would expect the Scouts have watched the Lithuanian side several times, Sparky added:

"We've had them watched, they are a nice footballing side, they try and get the ball down and play."

VK Vetra are BANG up to speed in terms of fitness and performance (well maybe not performance judgig by where they are in the Legaue!!!), obviously Rovers are lacking having played only a couple of games. However, we are a fit side anyway so even if we aren't completely up to top gear, we won't be that far away from it.
It won't be an easy match (although I hope it is and sort of won't be surprised if it proves so) but we HAVE to mind the complacency factor, if we don't we might slip up.
Personally I think we will win 2-0, maybe 3-1, either way we will take a two-goal cushion into the second leg.

Well hopefully that comes true, im not to sure, will be tough and if we can make a breakthrough early then yes definite by a two goal mrgin just need an early goal. Hopefully our shocking luck in Europe won't come back to haunt us.

Im with you on the score HDM, I'm going to have a sneaky bet on 3-1! True they will have the fitness and my hope is that it isn't too hot but you have to feel we will have the extra quality. Weare a nturally fit bunch so I think the lads will do us proud in Lithuania!!! The season starts here boys! Come On Rovers

1-2 Hope we get more but two away goals should see us well through, with a home win following nexrt week

The reason I feel so confident about this one today is that judged on what is being said we have approached the game with the right attitude... we are favourites but nothing less than 100% will allow us to get the right result.

What did I say 2-0, maybe 3-1. Either way we have that two goal, two away goal cushion.

roversman - Fff topic, but sue me LOL! How's it going dude?!?! Long time no speak! MikeyGamst - Spot on dude, the attitude and the way we had approached the game was spot on, anything less and we would have lost.
