Hughes Wants More, But ALL Stay!

Despite Blackburn Rovers having Matt Derbyshire, Benni McCarthy, Jason Roberts and summer signing Maceo Rigters as the four front line forwards this season, Mark Hughes has confirmed he wants MORE!!!

Not content with these four TOP CLASS performers, as well as having Paul Gallagher, Francis Jeffers and some young stars coming through to select from, Hughes has admitted he still wants one more to arrive this summer.

Rovers Boss Hughes told Sky Sports News:

"We're looking at players and I'd like to bring another striker in to compliment the players I already have.

"Obviously strikers more often than not will win you games and I'd be more comfortable with another experienced striker in the building to go along with the ones I've already got.

"Most managers do have a shortlist at this time of year. How realistic they (the targets) are is open to debate.

"But we're in the mix and we're making enquiries, we're still hopeful and there's plenty of time left in the window.

"As we stand, even if I didn't do any more business, I'd still be quite comfortable but we would like to bring another striker in
."

Many would think that this would mean some may leave (with McCarthy and Roberts often touted with moves away) but this WON'T be happening!!! Clear the air talks with McCarthy have taken place, and JR is a BIG favourite of Sparky's (as well as mine and MikeyGamst's!!!) and he has stressed NO ONE is going.

Sparky added:

"There's a lot of speculation about a lot of my players but more often than not they still stay here and they still play for Blackburn Rovers.

"That's the case with Benni, he knows the situation. We've not had an official bid from anybody for any of our players this summer.

"There's been talk in the media that clubs are interested in certain players but we haven't had to knock back any official approaches. I'm happy with the squad, happy with the strikers that I have
."

Personally I think that there is enough talent to see us through, but when has Sparky steered Rovers wrong?!?! NEVER!!! So as this sites motto goes "In Sparky we trust."
I wasn't very thrilled by the idea at first, but my pick (from those mentioned in the same breath as Rovers recently) would have to be Bobby Zamora.

im not so sure we need a more strikers will it cause unrest as someone is bound to lose out on games but then again sparky knows what he is doin!

Would love to see a world-class striker, but can't see anyone like it moving to Lancashire. Hope we get a playmaker soon!

I call Zamora... standard shot gun rules.

Defoe!!
Derbyshire4England
Yeah would love Defoe, but overpriced and won't come to us, we don't really need another striker though and we could get won't improve our frontline.

As we have been linked with beatie,i am pleased that vaughan will miss the start of evertons season, everton will now need him,we do not.I was at the stockport game when beats made his debut,Hodgson did not get much right, but a million for this guy was top.

Derbyshire4England - Defoe would be excellent but he will NEVER come to Rovers dude. I'm with Mikey, and although I am not convinced he would be an improvement, if Spakry wanted one more I'd be happy with Zamora.
boddingtonblue - That is a good point dude, Vaughan's injury would appear to have killed off Beats' move away from Everton, woo hoo!!!

I would be surprised to see another forward arrive and will be disappointed if any of the afore mentioned names sign. If we are going to bring someone in they should be quality!!! Incidentally, is anyone else finding Brum's reckless spending quite humorous? Did they not learn from last time!!
roversman
well its good news that Roberts isnt going
adrianbrfc
roversman - Reckless spending is spot on dude. They are spending a lot, but a lot on *****e like Mido!!! They are after Yakubu now aren't they?!?! Although he is pretty sweet to be honest. The thing with Bruce is he seems to think if he has ELEVEN strikers at least 1 of them will score, the ones he currently has won't score too many for me?!?!
Hughes Da Man
It is great to see the we are not pursuing Beattie which in my eye would have been a bad move! Im all for seeing Defoe or Gudjohnsen but I doubt either would be interested in a move! More fool them!!
im_a_blackburn_rover
Defoe is too much aof a London party boy to come here, Gudjohnsen, well you never know?!?!
