Thompson Set To Drop A Division

Thompson Set To Drop A Division

After being released by Bolton Wanderers, former Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Thompson looks like he will have to drop a Division to find himself a club for the coming season.

The 29-year-old, who has suffered horrendously with injuries over the years still feels he can do a job in the Premiership, but with little interest in him it looks as though Thompson will have to return to the second tier of English football, and he will have no shortage of offers with four teams interested (Charlton Athletic, Norwich City, Stoke City, and most strongly Plymouth Argyle.)

The former England International has still had a good career, but has been cruelly robbed of an even better one due to injuries, but I (and I'm sure everyone else here?!?!) wish him well for the future. Wherever he goes no doubt he will do a GREAT job.

It is SUCH a shame that Tommo was so cruelly hit with injuries, had this not been the case he WOULD have been the star in the England International SIDE that his talent threatened.
Some people have said to me, why don't Rover bring him back to Ewood Park, but this is a BIG no no!!! He will not bring anything else to our squad that we don't have will he (in fact far from it), so it is best to leave things in the past with Tommo, but wherever he goes he will do a great job.

There is no point bringing him back... everytime he seemed like he was gonna set the world on fire he got injured for nine months!!! Shame as he was and still can be a very good player.

Yeah i wish him luck, a real shame about injuries could have been sonething special if he and Jansen kept fit and we kept Duff and Dunn and they kept fit. O'well he will do a great job in the lower divisions. Good Luck!!!

In my opinion one of the most gited player I've ever seen in the PL. Hope he can do something nice in the champ' rather than retire...

I always thought he was too small and too round earlier in his career but when he left Liverfool for Coventry (which surprised me at the time) he came into his own and showed what he could do regularly, and the rest is history, it is just a shame for him (and Rovers!!!) that is could not have had a better middle, hopefully for him though it will still have a happy ending.

He was a great asset to Rovers when he was playing regularly. Similar story to Jansen how injuries have helped his career decline. Best of luck to the lad!
