Blackburn Rovers Contracts

Having praised the transfer team, I now wonder if there is room for improvement in just one section, transfer contracts.

From recent press reports of many of the big names moving this summer, previous clubs have received a sell on fee, typically 25%. Did we receive any cash from Liverpool for Bellamy's move? Even if it was only on the £1.5m profit Liverpool made.

Anyone know of clauses in other contracts? (e.g. Lucas Neill's contract if he moves from West Ham?). They probably won't become known until transfers happen but I would have thought any Bellamy fee would have been published, or perhaps I missed that news.

That is another good point r.waterfall.
All too often we hear about players having clauses in their Rovers deals (Bellamy for example), but we don't seem to hear of Rovers putting any in contracts when players are sold!!! Surely the deal that saw Bellers leave should have included a sell on clause?!?! Maybe it did of sorts, and Rovers might have got first option on taking him back before he went to the Hammered?!?!

Sell on deals are usually when a club has a player from the youth academy or from an early start of their career... I suspect that when we signed Bellamy he was able to demand more terms but when he went to Liverpool there would have been less scope for that. I doubt very much that we were able to demand any terms to Liverpool as we didn't really have a lot of choice.

Yeah good point but i doubt it and if we did and the club gained some money why would they make it public, sounds like the takeover won't be done until after the transfer window which is a big shame, but im sure Rovers will have a better start to the season, with the intertoto cup games.

It is a BIG shame the takeover won't happen before the window shuts, but how much difference will it really make now?!?! I don't think the principles of the club will change at all even with some money, so it's a shame but not a MASSIVE shame.

We will soldier on... we dont need the money. We have a great squad and as long as we retain the players we have and make smart additions then we will be on a roll.

The worry though is the longer we go without money, the harder it will be to keep up (despite the gems unearth time and again) and if we can't keep up players leave.
