Hughes Delighted With Rigters

Blackburn Rovers Manager Mark Hughes has again reiterated his stance on Maceo Rigters, with his belief that he WILL be a star, and that he WILL make an immediate impact.

Rigters became the latest gem in Hughes' crown when he arrived for an AMAZING £350,000 from NAC Breda (even more amazing when you look at what Liverpool have just paid for his Under-21 International team-mate Ryan Babel!!!) when Sparky decided to definitely make his move after he finished top scorer as the Dutch won the European Under-21 Championship this summer, Sparky told the Lancashire Telegraph:

"We were made aware of him and we knew his name beforehand.

"He'd been flagged up to us prior to the championships and we obviously then took in the games and liked what we saw, and we are delighted we were able to get him
."

And since being able to view him in training day in day out, and handing him his Rovers debut against Wrexham on Tuesday Evening Sparky is even more convinced by his ability, and the fact that he WILL make an impact on the Premiership (and sooner rather than later!!!)

A delighted Sparky added:

"Maceo is a good player - I think everyone saw that in the Under 21 Championships.

"He's got great ability, and he can score goals.

"We didn't really release him as much in the second half against Wrexham as much as I wanted to, but there were glimpses of his ability, and once we get to know how to release him in the right areas, and he gets to know how we play, then he's going to be a big player for us
."

How does Sparky do it?!?! He keeps unearthing unheard of gems, or manages to pick up quality players for next to nothing!!! If Sparky thinks he has what it takes to succeed I will NOT argue with him, as the Vital Blackburn motto goes IN SPARKY WE TRUST!!!
Although I did not see him play against Wrexham, if MikeyGamst also says Rigters looks the dogs bits that I'll do for me, in MikeyGamst I also trust LOL! Seriously though, I do.

I cant wait to see him in action. As we now know, Sparky just keeps bring these talented players in for rock bottom prices and it seems as if hes at it again. The best thing is, it isnt really a gamble, look at what Liverppol have paid for Babel who, although was good in the U21 tournament, wasn't as consistent as Maceo.

I am that confident he will do well, he is in my fantasy footie team, albeit on the bench. Even with money to spend, it is good to Sparky not purchase players for over the top prices (see Souness). I was fearful that he may buy some overrated overseas players, and play with the team we had from last season. I am glad he spent wisely.
Decimus Poole
Well see how he does before we start waxing lyrical about another superstar signing. He has all the attributes to be a success but he needs to convert that into goals and match winning performances. Only then can we start talking about another Nelsen or Samba or Warnock or Bentley!
roversman
Rigters for £350,000 or Babel for £11.5 million?? No contest really is it...
MikeyGamst
1. The reason we got Rigters for 350,000 is because of his release clause rather than his true value.... 2. Sparky did'nt yet bring us to the elite clubs in England. We play a good game against a top club away, and then we lose to a bottom club at home. I'd rather see sparky bring a top GK for the future- Brown, Enckelman are good for cover not more (don't really know this Nielsen guy thoguh)- he can choose K. Davis, B. Myhill, or my favorite C. Gordon. Also must bring P. McShane+RB. Must add at least one CM (D. Murphy/T. Soares).....
IsraeliRover
Even if he does turn out to pap, we still haven't lost anything, well, much. £350,000 and a couple of years wages.
Decimus Poole
release clause... and it works in our favour as well!!!!!!
MikeyGamst
LOL- true Mikey- how come I did'nt notice???
IsraeliRover
roversman - I'm happy to wax lyrical now dude, as I'm certain he will be the dogs nuts!!!
IsraeliRover - Bradders will be here for another three-years at least, I feel sure of this so Davis and Myhill would be pointless really wouldn't they?!?! Gordon is a great goalkeeper but Hearts want £10 million for him!!!
Hughes Da Man
From what I saw he didnt have much service but he sure as hell looked fast, strong and willing to get stuck in... can't go wrong in my eyes.
MikeyGamst
Service is the key, the one area we need to strengthen is a quality replacement for Tugay. When he isn't in the team we miss him
r.waterfall
so this will be the replacement for the disloyal mccarthy when he jumps ship?
Dales_Dad
Not a replacement, a partner!!!
