Jeffers Prices HIMSELF Out of Move!!

Blackburn Rovers striker Francis Jeffers looks like remaining at Ewood Park now after Ipswich Town failed to agree terms with him.

For months now Rovers have been adamant that Jeffers would only leave on their terms, and until now their valuation hadn't been reached. However, Ipswich Chairman David Sheepshanks has revealed that a fee HAD been agreed but no agreement could be reached with the 26-year-old on personal terms.

The one time England International's successful loan with the Championship side last season made them eager to finalise a permanent deal but it looks like Jeffers himself has put an end to this with his wage demands!!! So Ipswich will now be looking elsewhere, which means (unless someone else comes in for him) we will be keeping Jeffers this season.

Sheepshanks told the Official Ipswich Town Website:

"We made what we felt was a very lucrative offer to Franny and it was an offer that could exceed what he is earning at Blackburn.

"But unfortunately, despite our extensive efforts, we have not been able to match what the player wants financially from the deal.

"We have a duty to protect the wage structure at this club and will not put that at risk.

"The offer we made to Franny was a very good one in line with his status
."

Personally I'm not that bothered either way, if he went he went (and it would save wages I guess!!!) but if he stays (as now looks like being the case) he stays.
He isn't going to get much football here, but you never know what might happen?!?!

he is a bad influence in the dressing room - arsene wenger recognised that and got rid. bellamy and barton are the same. it amazes me that managers buy these players. west ham have bellamy and newcastle have barton. both deals will end in upset.

As HDM says, you never know with Jeffers. He may still impress but is likely that he won't. Seems daft that he would price himself out of a move though as surely he wants regular first team action!

i like de bit where sheepshanks says "the offer was in line with his status" sounds to me like franny thinks he is better than he actually is
durks de rover
LOL maybe he does durks, and although he isn't great (the last few years show this!!!) I still think there is a good player in him, and he is still only 26.
He SHOULD have gone to Ipswich, but he must have his reasons (other than money?!?!)

Everyone knows hew has talent but how many opportunities is he going to get! He has not performed at many different clubs and HDM is right, he should have gone to Ipswich. The fact he hasn't is a massive gamble for the lad because if he doesn't make the grade this year at Ewood, then clubs will not even show a slight interest in him.

Exactly, I mean its not like there are that many clubs interested in him, certainly not in the Premiership and very few in the Championship. He's going to get little or no football at Rovers next season (of that I am convinced) so what is he thinking?

Sparky has often said that he still has a future here, so I would not be surprised if this time next year we are looking back thinking it was a good thing he stayed!!!

Selfish git....!!! lol
