Rovers Await Intertoto Cup Opponents
In order to move a step closer to the UEFA Cup proper next season Blackburn Rovers have to overcome opponents in the Intertoto Cup. However, we are no closer to knowing who that will be!!!
The First Leg of the Second Round Intertoto Cup tie between FK Vetra of Vilnius (or Vilnius Vetra depending on where you read it) and Legia Warsaw had to be abandoned at half time after some Warsaw fans invaded the pitch and attacked riot police.
At that time FK Vetra were winning 2-0, but as a result the referee abandoned the match and UEFA will make a decision, so Rovers have to await the outcome of this before our opponents in two weeks time are revealed (or at least partially revealed.)
Recently a Danish fan attacked the referee in a European Championship Qualifier between Denmark and Sweden when Sweden were given a late penalty. The match was level at 3-3 at the time with injury time approaching. Later Sweden were awarded a 3-0 win, so the same will probably happen here, unless FK Vetra are simply awarded the tie as a result?!?!
