Something We WANT To Hear From Benni

Something We WANT To Hear From Benni

It has only taken all summer but FINALLY we have heard something we want to hear from Benni McCarthy.

Blackburn Rovers striker McCarthy has never actually said he would leave Ewood Park (but had never ruled it out!!!) but has hinted more and more in favour of a move away to a team in the Champions League (as he misses Champions League Football in case anyone has forgot, LOL!)

This led to rumours of interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, but nothing has happened (even though Jose Mourinho expressed a public interest, of sorts). Maybe the fact that none of these sides (or other European sides) have actually moved for him has left him having to re-think and re-phrase what he says?!?!

Benni remains keen on testing himself, but has at last said that he WILL stay for as long as his contract runs if needed. He told the News of the World:

"I believe I could play for the best team in the world.

"But I'm a professional and will always fulfil my obligations. At the moment I am a Rovers player so nothing has changed.

"I will never hide from my responsibilities

FINALLY something positive from Benni and something we want to hear!!!
(As I have hinted at) the cynical (not that I am LOL!) among us may feel that the lack of CONCRETE interest in Benni might have left him in a slightly awkward position so he has had to say this, but even so at least he has!!!
I worried that he might leave, and although he still might I never REALLY thought that he would (even if at times after reading what he said, or was meant to have done that I DID want this.)

I just want to say how lucky you are to have this fella, we were after him a season before you got him and a deal fell through, i think moyes just lost interest. big mistake. what an absolute bargain and well done sparky, superb bit of business.

Welll lets hope for more goals from him next season. Its tie for jis actions to speak as loudly as that motor mouth he has!

toffeetower - Yes he was a bargain, £2.5 million for a player of his quality and calibre is AMAZING by today's standards, but he does like to run his mouth abit, so maybe this is why LOL!
roversman - Aye, they certainly do dude. Time for him to shut his trap and talk with his feet, if he keeps doing this he'll put more pressure on us to sell but we'll benefit!!!

toffeetower - we were in for him first - we tried three seasons ago to first get him when Sparky first arrived. This alerted other clubs such as yourselves and Notlob. I just hope he doesn;t start what he did at Porto and start acting like an arse to try and get his own way.

This is good news, at least he aint gonna throw a strop to get the move he wants.
09/07/2007 09:25:00
not really something we want to hear, he still wants his move but just incase he doesnt get his big move his tryin to warm to the fans again, i really hope he stays, but im far from convinced his ebst interest is to stay with us.

it's more promising that what we have been hearing though isn't it dude?!?!

Yeah at least its something a little more positive than we're used to hearing from him. I'd say he's becoming a little more resigned to the fact that he'll be at Rovers next season. You hit the nail on the head with your first post HDM, he's in somewhat of an awkward position now, he must have expected a host of offers given the season he's just had but it has'nt worked out that way and he's starting to realise it. (which is good news in itself I suppose)

That was the VERY first thing I though when I read what he said, so I thought fair enough he wants to stay but it seems a little begrudingly, so he is covering ALL bases.
It will be VERY interesting to see how he reacts this season won't it guys!!!
