With his future seemingly in doubt as long as 12-months ago (or more) former Blackburn Rovers skipper Andy Todd has finally left Ewood Park, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
The 33-year-old (whose Rovers career appeared over not long after it had started) looked like having no future with the club as far back as 2003, only 15-months after signing. He was transfer listed and then loaned out, but managed to force his way back into contention before taking over as skipper.
Todd was dropped after a poor opening week to the last season, and he eventually requested a transfer. Despite this he stayed at Ewood for the whole of the season, but rarely figured in the first team, and it is now said that the tough central defender has left for Premiership newcomers Derby County (or will leave today) for a fee of around £750,000 (however, nothing concrete has been confirmed by either club at present.)
With a regular starting position FAR from guaranteed (in fact first team football would have been almost non-existent!!!) the former Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic defender decided it was time for a new challenge, and Rovers boss Mark Hughes and Chairman John Williams agreed.
Todd has been a good servant to the club but his attitude and lack of discipline one too many times costs him, and if we are bluntly honest his lack of ability at the higher end of the highest level (which is where we are at) didn't help. I wish him all the best as I'm sure everyone else does also.
