Reidy Stepping Up His Comeback

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid is stepping up his recovery from his serious knee injury, and should return to training next week, and may even play by the end of the month!

Rovers managed without Reid last season (but he was missed MASSIVELY!!!) firstly due to his back injury, then his freak training ground injury in January when he ruptured his cruciate knee ligament.

However, after stepping up his recovery programme (with the help of the great physiotherapy team in place at Rovers) he is even being pencilled in for the Intertoto Cup Match at the end of the month, and is looking like returning to full training on Monday.

Rovers Chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph:

"I spoke to Steven yesterday and he told me he's feeling good so, all being well, he should be able to join in with the rest of the group from Monday.

"The physio's have said he's done ever so well to get himself back in contention this quickly.

"I know all the injured players - Robbie Savage, Andre Ooijer and Steven Reid - were desperate to get back for the start of pre-season and they've all worked incredibly hard to achieve that.

"It's particularly pleasing to have Steven back because he also missed four months of last season with a back injury, before he injured his knee, so he's been out for the best part of a year
."

More GREAT news for Rovers, Reidy was a HUGE miss last season so if he is ready for the Intertoto Cup having him available will only help us in our quest to make the UEFA Cup proper.

Bring it on... we missed the drive last year. Hopefully it'll be a different story this year.

I am really enthused by this news although lets hope he returns as the player he was. So many times we see players return from these lengthy injuries half the player they once were. If he is the same old Reidy then it will make us a much more threatening proposition next season. Bring it on!

He does add another dimension. Lets hope he continues in this vein and stays away from the treatment table.

When I meet him a couple of months ago, he was confident about being back in time for the start of season. They have had to be doubly sure of everything because it happened just as he came back from back surgery. He is a huge talent and a big miss for us... I know some have slagged him off in the past but he's always remained one of my favourites

I believe that with him and Savage fit last season we would definitely have been there or there abouts for 6th place last year! Without question!!

Having Reidy back for the start of the season is great news, clearly a big loss for us last season, and for Ireland, we've been an absolute shambles in midfield since he's been injured!
spinaker7081
I guess you mean without Reidy in midfield Ireland have been a shambles dude?!?!
Hughes Da Man
lol, u know that's what I meant HDM. Christ your getting as bad as BOM BOM lol.
spinaker7081
Reidy coming back saves us another few million. He might be the central midfielder that we need, he did have a fantastic year prior to geting injured

spinaker i dont think reidy is goin to solve our (ireland) prolems in midfield not with stan the muppet staunton in charge although its great for rovers that he is back no harm havingh more options
