Rigters a VERY Happy Rover

Blackburn Rovers' latest recruit Maceo Rigters is VERY MUCH looking forward to starting his Rovers career after meeting his new team-mates for the first time.

I was not overly surprised when we finally did sign Rigters, but it does still AMAZE me that we were able to get the Dutch Under-21 International so cheaply!!! When news first started floating around about his availability I was expecting a fee in excess of £3 million, and doubted Rovers would get him for that?!?! Then we started seeing his name in connection with us more and more, and the rest is history!!! But one thing that can't be doubted is this guy has a BIG future ahead of him, and will be a star not only at Ewood Park, but in the Premiership full stop.

Rigters (who signed from NAC Breda earlier this week) had initially returned to Holland but is now back, and has joined in with pre-season training. Speaking Exclusively to Rovers World Rigters said:

"It is like a dream for me to play at the club.

"It is a big club and the competition will be good for me to see if I can make it. I know quite a lot about the club they have good players here such Benni McCarthy, Aaron Mokoena and of course Andre Ooijer, there are a lot of good players here
."

All good to hear isn't it!!! He added:

"I had a great feeling about the club, I was here with my Dad and my agent and we made the decision to stay here as there was a good feeling.

"It is a great chance for me, it is a dream for every boy in Holland to play in the Premier League, I have the chance and I'm very happy with that
."

He is saying all the right things isn't he. It does seem to be every foreign footballers dream to play in the country, and he is right with what he says!!!
It is GREAT to have him here, so with his help (STILL can't believe we got him for so little!!!) this season will be everything we could hope for, and dare I say more?!?!

Thats really refreshing to hear, I hope the Spurs and West Ham based media here this and book up their ideas.

Considering he was a standout at the U21 champs, it really surprised me that we nabbed him and for pittance. Like a months wages for McCarthy. Heres to more of the same please.

I did not have the pleasure of seeing him in the U21's Championship, and therefore I am unable to form an opinion on him. However, I can only presume from the fact Celtic, Newcastle, et al, were interested he must be good. Is he quick? (I would presume he is quick, as he is young. However, Teddy Sheringham was young once...) How is his finishing? I hear he scored a blinder against England...

He is saying the right things now lets hope he delivers the right stuff. Come on Rigters surplant Benni!

He is certainly saying the right things... lets hope his walk is as good as his talk.
MikeyGamst
And his finishing better than JR's!!! Ohhh low blow, sorry guys
roversman
Hope he did'nt make any release clause of his own. Otherwise, mark my words- after one good season we lose him just like we lost Bellers, or like we lost Henchoz/Sutton when we got relegated....
