At last!!! Sparky does it again.....

Blackburn Rovers have won the race to sign NAC Breda striker Maceo Rigters. Having earlier completed the signing of young Faroe Island Goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen, Blackburn then moved swiftly to pinch the highly rated hitman.

The Dutch striker, who starred for Holland in this month's U-21 European Championships, has signed a four-year deal at Ewood Park.

Rigters, had been strongly linked with a move to Celtic, but also attracted interest from Newcastle, Rangers and Norwich.

Rigters has just come off international duty after scoring four goals as Holland won the European U-21 Championships.

This is another good coup for the Rovers as the fee is believed to be less than 1 million... he already looks a bargain!

And may I be the first to say... this has registered very high on the 'Rigter Scale', thank you I'll be here all week ;)

Every. Single. Bloody. Time. I don't know how he does it, but Sparky seems to pull these signings out of nowhere.... We'll see how that new chap at Arsenal does, but I think this could be the end of "Arsene knows" and the beginning of a glorious new era of "Sparky knows"...

Do yourselves a favour - visit you tube and watch this boys goals in the recent U-21 tournament - He looks a great signing. I didn't realise that he was the guy that scored the amazing overhead kick that equalised against England.

Famtastic signing. Only sparky can continuously get a gem after gem for such a bargain. This guy is definitly gonna take us to the next level. Havent heard much about the keeper but sparky always knows

Very pleased we have im but dont like the speculation this means Benni or Jason will be leaving!?! I hope this is us strengthening our squad rather than getting ready to replace a great player.

Excited by this signing, this guy could turn out to be a real gem. Nice to pip the likes of Newcastle & Celtic for him as well.

Great signing, I am so pleased he is a Rover. The Daily Mail said he was going to Celtic...so I left a comment on their website telling them how useless they are! I wonder if that will get posted..hmmm.

I have said it before, i wouldnt mind, roberts leaving if we purchase a second striker. This would leave us with this guy, derbyshire, benni and another striker, possibly bellers. At least this gives another young kid to scale to the heights of derbyshire, maybe itws de vita's turn this yaer

Let's go for it pal!!! sasman, you might have hit on something there about de vita. I have high hopes for this lad and would like to see him make the breakthrough next season, even if it is only in a few cup games and a few sub displays. Looking forward to hearing Rigters first interview, although surprised no comments have been attributed to him yet.

yeah is rigter a benni replacement or maybe a signal that nonda aint gettin a permanent deal at ewood? i hope the latter but if the benni thing is true i for one have had enough of him and his antics!

I cant see this Rigter's guy being a direct replacement for Benni, he is largely unproven at this level and I still expect the club to sign another striker.

Rigter is not the replacement for benni, i believe he is replacing roberts. I might be wrong, but we will sign 1 more quality striker, leaving us with rigter, benni, new striker, derbs and possibly gally or de vita

I was not quite amazed when we signed him, more surprised but VERY happy we have, Sparky has certainly done it again!!! A player of his quality and potential for LESS than a million, maybe even less than 500,000 is AMAZING!!!
