With YOUR help Vital Blackburn has been trying to determine what have been the best and worst of the Blackburn Rovers 2006-2007 season.
The nominations have finished and the FINAL Award of the Vital Blackburn Awards for 2006-2007 is dished out with the
Player of the Season
When asked to simply leave the name of your Player of the Season most felt…
David Bentley should be the Award Winner! So congratulations Bentley on picking up the highest accolade possible.
Bents picked up the Midfielder of the Season Award, now he adds the Player of the Season Award. But was this ever really in doubt?!?!
Question marks had been put against Bents, and his ability to produce but he MORE than answered these critics (and more still!) with displays of great consistency and maturity. For me Bents was the best quality English right-sided footballer in the country last season.
Bents scored some stunning goals and created countless others to show just why Arsene Wenger was reluctant to let him go (as we have to remember Bents was the one that chose to leave Arsenal!) when he did. Next season will be the real test to see if Bents can replicate this form, and dare I even say it improve!
Bents was the first Englishman to score goal at the New Wembley, something he did for the Under-21's that will see his name forever written into English history but the only thing that was missing from Bents' season was the MUCH deserved reward of an England Cap, and not an Under-21 or B one, as he got these! A certain Steve McClaren's short sightedness saw to this. All we can do now is hope that his withdrawal from the European Under-21 Championships squad isn't held against him.

Some will probably disagree but SURELY not even Stevie Mac can overlook Bents next season if he keeps up the standard he has set. (Although no doubt the coward probably will!!!)
