'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Todd Closing in on Coventry Move?

Transfer speculation is rife this time of year (and often involving talk of Blackburn Rovers players leaving!) this continues with news one Rover is inching closer to the exit gates.

Most Rovers footballers being linked with moves away are players that you would HATE to see leave, others are being linked with moves because they have been told they can go.

One such man that has been told he can go is Andy Todd (as much as I like the guy I would be lying if I said he was one of these that I would hate to see leave) and a reported switch to Championship outfit Coventry City is moving closer, perhaps?!?!

Former Rovers goalkeeper (and legend!) Tim Flowers, now Coventry's Assistant Manager is hoping the club can soon secure the transfer of a mystery Premiership footballer. This footballer sounds suspiciously like it could be former Rovers skipper Todd!

Flowers told the Coventry Telegraph:

"We have got a No.1 target and we have met with his agent and it all sounded positive.

"He is a player of great calibre and has got one or two Premier League clubs looking at him but I have spoken to him myself and he is a good honest lad and says he will ring me as soon as he knows what's happening.

"I can't say too much at this stage but from the first day I came through the door at Coventry I threw his name into the equation because he is a very, very good player.

"If he comes, and it is a big 'if', he will bring leadership, organisation and a rugged manliness, and I believe he would be a major coup and signal of our intent
."

Very, very good player (Championship level, check), leadership (check), organisation (not full check, but yeah check!), rugged manliness (MASSIVE check) and major coup and sign of our intent (depends what there intent is lol!)
All in all I think he would be a good signing for Coventry and will be very good at that level, although staying in the Premiership would probably appeal to him more.

Good luck to coventry and Todd. One of our favourite plyers, but hs time isup. Im sure whereever he goes he will have a positive impact
sasman
If their intent is to batter all opposing centre forwards that they face next season then Todd is indeed the man that Englands Number 1 is talking about.
BomBom
He will do a job no doubt, and will kick the ***** out of a few Championship forwards (if he ends up at that level?!?!) I am sure lol! Although you get some pretty hard guys in the Championship don't you, unlike some of the fairies we have in the Premiership.
Hughes Da Man
too many faries in the premiership lol, way too many
sasman
If Coventry get him then that is a great signing for them.

If Todd breathed on some players they go down like a sack of spuds! look at Van Persie in that FA Cup semi final!!!!! hehe
BomBom
I say we take whatever coventry/any other club gives us, otherwise we can lose him for free at the end of the season+paying his wages even though he won't play at all (he's 33 for God sake)

sasman - That was my "Politically Correct" way of putting it dude, LOL!
Hughes Da Man
IsraeliRover - It won't get that far, he'll be gone before his contratc runs out I am certain, although I also felt this degree of certainty (almost) last summer aswell!
Hughes Da Man
He will be gone this summer, Hughes has stepped out to say eh can go if the right offer comes in and I'm sure Andy is not stupid and knows when it is time to move on...
MikeyGamst
At the end of the day Todd just wants to play football doesn't he. He could just happily pick up the money for doing sod all, but he will not want this will he. At his age his career is nearing an end (although he still has a few years to go) so he'll want to make the most of it, and beat up a few more people too!
He could assure himself of a VERY quick exit (at the risk of ending his own career!) by breaking Bowen's nose or fighting with Bradders in training lol!
