Rovers Legend Back in the Saddle

I couldn't let the news that Blackburn Rovers legend Colin Hendry is back in club management slip by unnoticed.

I am sure that pretty much EVERY Rovers fan will have seen the news that Hendry is back in management after taking over as Manager of Scottish side Clyde, but if not he has! It is a perfect opportunity to bring Hendry back into the spotlight and for us to maybe debate the wonder that is Colin Hendry again.

Hendry (who has been out of Management since leaving Blackpool) told the official Clyde website:

"Simply, it just felt right. I had several discussions with the directors and I was impressed by their honesty and openness.

"I had options north and south of the border as well as overseas but I knew that this was the right choice.

"It was doubly pleasing to get a chance to manage in my own country too so that is an added bonus.

"It was a crossroads for my family, as my eldest son had just finished exams; there were a lot of decisions to make as this job came out of the blue but it is fantastic to return to Scotland
."

I am sure I will not be alone in wishing Hendry all the best.

Good luck Mr Hendry. Hendry is almost certainly the greatest central defender this club has ever had (maybe not a view everyone will share?!?!) and how there were times over the years that I wish we could have had him back again.

what a hero

I'm in full agreement HDM. He is a bonafide hero around Ewood and always will be. I always used to keep an eye on how he was doing with Blackpool and I will now keep an intrigued eye on things at Clyde. Good luck Col.

As will I dude, I think (although I am not too sure how I will get on?) that I may try and hound him for an interview (or to at least answer a few questions?) That would be something for Vital Blackburn wouldn't it.

Colin Hendry would have stuck his head where others would not have stuck their feet to win a challenge for Rovers!!!! Depending on how he does could this be a future Rovers manager in the making lads????
Clint
People will disagree with me but I would like Mike Newell to be the next Rovers boss after the Great One. He had a promising team robbed from him at Luton and he has the backing.
MikeyGamst
I would tend to agree Clint. He did an OK job with Blackpool, he's still young (only 41 I think?!?!) So he has time on his side, I would NEVER rule this out.
Hughes Da Man
He certainly DIDN'T do an OK job with us! He nearly sent us down!
sandgroanun
Was he well respected down there sandgroanun??? I hear his stint there didnt do him any favours.

I can't forget that moment- 10 years ago- we played Liverpool in the 97-98 season. Owen (or someone else) rounded Flowers, and was set to bag a goal- kicking the ball with great power- Hendry came from nowhere and put his chest to make one of the most brilliant off-line saves I've ever seen. Wish him all the best.....

sandgroanun - I knew things didn't go well in the end but I thought he had some good times?!?! Obviously I was wrong.
Hughes Da Man
Well have to remember that Hendry and his family were having it ruff at the time, but I do think that depending on how he does and of course Newells next appointment then who knows, both played with pride at Rovers so hopefully would bring the same if ever we should call on them in the distant future
Clint
Maybe we could get Corrado Crabbi in as the next manager after his successful and passionate displays for the club...
MikeyGamst
Somebody is being sarcastic me thinks Mr MikeyGamst!
