Savage to Sheff United? I Think Not!

New Sheffield United Boss Bryan Robson is reportedly interested in taking Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage to the club, but Savage is having none of it!

Suggestion is that Robson will offer his one time Manchester United team-mate (Robson would have been with Man United when Savage was part of the Man United FA Youth Cup Winning side in the early 1990's) £40,000 a week to turn his back on Rovers and spearhead Sheffield United's charge from the Championship back to the Premiership.

However, a source close to Sav (I always wonder who these so-called sources actually are?!?!) feels he has unfinished business here and isn't interested in a move, this mystery source said:

"Robbie is happy where he is. He feels Rovers stood by him when he broke his leg last season.

"He feels he still has unfinished business, and has not achieved all that he wants at Blackburn. So he will be staying at Rovers
"

Never gonna happen is it! Besides Sav only signed a contract extension (to take him through until 2009) at Christmas so Robson will have to turn his attentions elsewhere as Sparky will NOT be willing to sell!!! Not even to his old Manure team-mate Robbo.

Isnt Sheffield further away from North Wales though? hehehe
BomBom
hehehehe good call bombom. Ah well just more rumours i guess
sasman
£40,000 a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! £20,000 would be too much! Hope it's false
Blade1889
Well it aint going to happen so lets not clog this page up with ramblings. I love the press in the summer...so full of s**t. Hell, I don't make these kinds of rumours up in my paper. Complete waste of time.
roversman
This is NEVER going to happen. what a load of tiosh. This shows how out of touch Robson is...
MikeyGamst
i thought we were gonna lose our top players to top clubs but sheffield lol. Ah geez savage aint goin nowhere.
sasman
Blade1889 - I can assure you that IF you ever had Sav playing for you (not that you will!) your opinion on him would change DRAMATICALLY! It always does when Sav is playing for your club.
Hughes Da Man
lol BomBom! I still want to know who this mystery "source" is though?!?! Is "a source close to a player (Sav in this case)" meant to mean a board journalist that has nothing better to do so makes up something?!?!
Hughes Da Man
lol... im sure the two are almost soul-mates... no wait.. what a pile of rubbish
Bents4eng
The close source must be the editor of the mirror, Blade 1889.... if you had Sav playing for you you would love him. I used to hate him when he played for Brum but he is my fav player now... which I'm sure means a lot to him ;)
MikeyGamst
Savage to drop a league ( well possibly ) and increase his wages, now thats an achievment lol All this with Utd losing out on the big TV money that we got! Anyway have to agree that Savage has to be in your team for u to really notice the effect he has on not just the opposition but his own team!! I really did not rate him at Leicester and especially that gob s**te team Brum! but he has def improved here and Im glad to have him
Clint
He is like a pretty boy axe.....
MikeyGamst
The Axe is a pretty boy too lol! I personally couldn't stand Sav until he came here, but I wouldn't say that he has improved it is just a case of him being in front of us week in week out so we see first hand what he is all about. Crewe Alexandra, Leicester City and Birmingham City will tell you the same, they LOVED him when they played for them, they might not now but they did at the time and we know why.
Hughes Da Man
It would be great business for the Blades. But can it really happen?
sandgroanun
No sandygroanun.... they are living in a dream world. They will get the same response Wigan got last year. Nice try.
MikeyGamst
or F off! lol
BomBom
That would be the BomBom way... r u sure your not a media relations manager down at Ewood BomBom???
