Greatest Ever XI - Centre-Backs

Greatest Ever XI - Centre-Backs

The Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad had been finalised, now we have the Starting XI's central defenders! These man Colin Hendry & Ryan Nelsen.

Eventually it was decided that the final selection of the four centre-backs to get into this squad would be, Mike England, Derek Fazackerley, Colin Hendry, & Ryan Nelsen. From these four with 34% of the vote EACH, most feel the defenders should be

Colin Hendry & Ryan Nelsen.

Congratulations to Hendry and Nelsen for becoming the latest names inducted into the Greatest Ever Rovers XI.

Mike England gained 22% to possibly take his place on the bench (this will be decided at a latter date), with Derek Fazackerley collecting the final 11%.

This squad currently comprises of the following:

Goalkeepers - Terry Gennoe, Tim Flowers & Brad Friedel
Left-backs (or Wing-backs) - William Eckersley & Graeme Le Saux
Centre-backs - Mike England, Derek Fazackerley, Colin Hendry & Ryan Nelsen
Right-backs (or Wing-backs) - Bob Crompton & Keith Newton
Left midfielders (or Wingers) - Damien Duff & Scott Sellers
Central Midfielders - Ronnie Clayton, Jimmy Forrest, Eddie Latheron & Tugay
Right midfielders (or Wingers) - Bryan Douglas & Noel Brotherston
Forwards - Tommy Briggs, Simon Garner, Alan Shearer & Chris Sutton

Next up for selection will be the right-back so keep an eye out for the poll shortly.

Don't forget this selection process, CAN and WILL alter over time so if you DON'T AGREE WITH THIS have your say about making a change by clicking here.

The current poll, suggested by Clint continues his overrated series and is asking your opinion on, "Most overrated European based players?"

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findingsā€¦

Colin Hendry was a gimme (or so we thought) but the fact that Ryan Nelsen aka God managed to tie with Hendry with 34% shows how HIGHLY rated God really is at Rovers. It was a close run thing overall with Mike England clawing his way back into contention, but he just couldn't quite claw enough.

IMO, for what its worth, that selection is a load of bollox. Nelsen, whilst a very good player, has played 2 and a half seasons for us. well 2 if you include the injury Mike England played for Rovers for 6 years and was a very successful player. He deserves to be in the starting team rather than the Admiral. That is why I do not like the poll voting system as anyone can wander by and vote for whomever the like and will normally go for a name they recognise and I would imagine that not many actually knew or remember Mike England! Bom, not a happy bunny!!!

Why am I not surprised you are not happy lol! To say the selection is a load of bollox is hardly fair though is it? Granted that's your own opinion but this is simply the case as one name that you wouldn't have wanted in there is. Like I say (and have said ALL the way through this process) I know what you are saying but people had the chance to select the squad through posting comments, this didn't always go down well so a poll to determine winners was the only way this was being sorted (we have to bare in mind not all members like commenting do they?) I personally voted Nelsen and Hendry, I know all about England but he still missed out to Nelsen for me personally.

You know me, i pi$$ and moan about loads LOL It wouldve been fairer to limit the vote to just Vbers, i know that is like nigh on impossible, but still, at least i wouldve been happier! (Note i used happier instead of happy!!! ;))

Im sorry lol nelsen lol, bombom we have been agreein a fair bit lately lol. I agree again, i have no memory of England, to be honest i dont even no what era he played in. However i did mention it on another thread, the recent players will get most of the votes, and there simply aint much we can do about it
