Tell Me I Am Having Nightmares!!!

Blackburn Rovers' reluctance to do a deal with Ipswich Town for Francis Jeffers is causing BomBom some discomfort!

According to reports today, it appears that Ipswich Town have not reached the fee required by Blackburn for the sale of former England player Francis Jeffers.

The 2nd fee, reported to be around the £500,000 mark, is still half way short as Rovers are holding out for £1,000,000. This is either a very brave or very foolish action by the club

Rovers chairman, John Williams, said:

"We've had a second offer from Ipswich for Franny but it's not one we consider to be acceptable at the moment."

This means that the coaching staff must be planning on giving him another crack of the whip next season.

What Jeffers offers us when he actually gets into the side is not any different or any better in this person's eyes than what we currently have at our disposal.

Come on Ipswich; pull your socks up eh?

Lets keep our fingers crossed that Jim Magilton's desire to take Jeffers to Portman Road is a strong one!

Well Sparky has said that "maybe" Jeffers still has a future with the club but is this just his way of playing hard ball?!?! I still maintain that we didn't really see enough of Jeffers to judge (too harshly?!?!) having said this when he was given a chance he didn't do a lot, but it's not always easy to get into a game when you come on as a late sub is it? Holding out for £1 million is a risky game, could we really (honestly!) expect to get this though?!?!

I actually don't think he looked that bad in his brief encounters with the first team. Ok, he was no great shakes, but he'd hardly played - He looked willing enough. His 7 games at Ipswich went particularly well, and he's proven that he has more in his locker. £1m is not a lot to ask really, and personally i'm happy that the club are content to sit on the deal - If they don't stump up, we loan him out and get him more experience. Wouldn't cost anything, and if he does well (which i think he would) we flog him for even more next year, or he comes back as reserve striker. It's a no lose for me. HAve a look on Ipswich forums - They're getting all angry about the fact that they can't buy him - That says to me that they know he'd do well. Ergo, Pay up!
Head Rover Heels
Fair play Head Rover Heels. The interplay Jeffers had with Bents for his goal (Bents') against Wigan (I think?) was brilliant, that was the kind of thing Jeffers is capable of isn't it.

Exactly, there's bags of talent in there somewhere, it's getting it out of him, or at least not giving him away for someone else to do that. Oh by the way, have you not get any pictures of him looking a little more stupid? lol
Head Rover Heels
That exact thought went through my head when I used the image, I thought "the guy gets a hard enough time as it is without this "monstrosity" lol! It was either this (which didn't look QUITE as bad when scaled down!) or the England one again, but as that was used before thought we needed a change.
Hughes Da Man
Haha, agreed - It looks ok on the club page, but on the large picture at the top it just looks like there's a village somewhere missing a, ahem, "key member of the community" ;)

1st thing he is pig ugly - there are no 'good' pictures of him. How many chances does Jeffers need?? He had loads at Arsenal, Everton, Rangers and Charlton - never took them....... I don't rate the guy and I hope he never wears a Rovers shirt again - I cannot stand wasters. Nethertheless, what Ipswich have offered is paltry comparerd to what he can offer in the Championship. If someone will pay £1M for an aging Steve Howard then Jeffers should be worth around that mark. I think if the tractor boys offer £750K he'll be gone. That is why Rovers are saying £1M. It's plain negotiating.
Wellsy
1 million for a player who wil comfortably score 15 a season at Championship level, makes sense to me. If I was Jim Magilton I'd give us £1 million for him...
MikeyGamst
Poor old Franny Jeffers!
Hughes Da Man
i think 500k is a steal for rovers.. we got him on a free plus he's rubbish!
Bents4eng
£1 million for a has been!
merlin
Fair play to Hughes for holding out for more. If he thinks Fanny is worth that much then dont compromise. It won't cause us great harm to have him in the squad next season if all goes pear shaped!

"It looks ok on the club page, but on the large picture at the top it just looks like there's a village somewhere missing a, ahem, "key member of the community" ;)" PMSL That, sir was classic!
BomBom
I think that he hasnt had that much of a chance to shine with us and wouldnt be overally disappointed if he did stay, but when given a chance, regardless whether its 10 mins from the end or starting, he has to offer something more tangible than he has previously
BomBom
It sometimes takes players a season or so to adapt to the Premiership doesn't it......hang on that doesn't apply to Jeffers as he's had about 10 of them lol!
Hughes Da Man
Hes over adapted, perhaps hes already adapted to the championship and it would be better for him to go there!
