Greatest Ever Rovers XI - Left-back

Greatest Ever Rovers XI - Left-back

The Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad had been finalised, now we have the Starting XI`s left-back! This man is Graeme Le Saux.

Eventually it was decided that the final selection of the two left-backs to get into this squad would be, William Eckersley & Graeme Le Saux. From these two with 60% of the vote, most feel the left-back should be…

Graeme Le Saux.

Congratulations to Graeme Le Saux for becoming the latest name inducted into the Greatest Ever Rovers XI.

Eckersley gained 40% to possibly take a place on the bench, this will be decided at a latter date.

This squad currently comprises of the following:

Goalkeepers - Terry Gennoe, Tim Flowers & Brad Friedel
Left-backs (or Wing-backs) - William Eckersley & Graeme Le Saux
Centre-backs - Mike England, Derek Fazackerley, Colin Hendry & Ryan Nelsen
Right-backs (or Wing-backs) - Bob Crompton & Keith Newton
Left midfielders (or Wingers) - Damien Duff & Scott Sellers
Central Midfielders - Ronnie Clayton, Jimmy Forrest, Eddie Latheron & Tugay
Right midfielders (or Wingers) - Bryan Douglas & Noel Brotherston
Forwards - Tommy Briggs, Simon Garner, Alan Shearer & Chris Sutton

Next up for selection will be the centre-backs so keep an eye out for the poll shortly.

Very well deserved! Although I'll never forget when he returned to Ewood and got sent off in that tussle near the touchline :-)

Yeah, always been a fan of Le Saux. He was a quality left-back. Always annoys me though cos he is remembered for his time at Chelsea, yet he achieved most things at Ewood!

mind you! I can also remember during his first spell at Chelsea when he reacted badly to being subsituted by ripping off his shirt and throwing it into the dug-out. However, best moment has to be when he got fed up with the gay-boy taunts from Robbie Fowler and elbowed him to the ground out of view of the officials - Big nose got what he deserved!

He hated his Chelsea days with a passion as they used to take the pi$$ out of his name calling him Le Socks over the PA an such like and vowed never to return......We know the rest. Was a great left back, best in the league in his time with Rovers, not bad for a converted Winger eh? Shame he had to act like an arse before he went as that left a little bitter taste in the mouth, well for me it did anyhow

He did have a temper but he was a cracking left back... i am genuinely SUPSRISED that Bruno Berner did not make the squad though... ;)

Is it possible to be as bad as Lee Dixon?!?! Great left-back, was unlucky to be around at a time when we (England) has so many left-backs! Will NEVER forget that goal against Brazil in the Umbro Cup.
