Steven Reid on Target

After missing virtually the whole season through injury Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid is targeting pre-season as a return date.

As well as targeting pre-season for his long awaited, and vitally important return date Reid is also drawing inspiration from the return Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has made from a similar injury. Owen returned after ten-months out on Monday.

Speaking in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph Reid said:

"It does spur you on when you see people like Michael coming back.

"It took him quite a while to get back playing again and hopefully I'll recover from my injury a little bit quicker than he did.

"It's going really well. It's three months since I had the surgery and we're pretty much on course, in terms of the targets we set when I first got injured.

"I'm happy with the way things are going and so are the medical staff.

"They say it's six to nine months for an injury like this, so that's the target at the moment, and if I can get back within that then I'll have done really well
."

We've missed Reid BIG time this season, having him back will play a major role in how our 2007-2008 season unfolds.

Reidy has been our biggest miss this season without a doubt. Having him back will be like signing TWO players, this is how important he is to us in my opinion.
