Roberts In Actim Team Of Week

ROBERTS RECORDS ACTIM HIGH

Striker Records Highest Score In This Week's Actim Index -

Jason Roberts' two goals and overall display in Blackburn Rovers' 4-1 victory over Charlton Athletic has seen the 29-year-old striker record the performance of the Week in The Actim Index - the Official Player Ratings of the Barclays Premiership.

The former Wigan Athletic star, who is currently ranked 242nd, was also named in the Actim Index Team of the Week after recording 56 Index Points against the Addicks - this week's highest score.

Actim Stats reveal that, this season, Roberts has contributed three Premiership goals and one assist in his 956 minutes of first team action. He has also made 101 passes, 11 dribbles, five crosses, three interceptions, one clearance, 25 tackles and he has also had 20 shots at goal.

South African striker Beni McCarthy remains Blackburn's highest-ranked player in 13th position, closely followed by goalkeeper Brad Friedel in 37th position.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player's contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards. Two additional calculations, which take account of player assists and goalkeeper's clean sheets, have been added for the new season to increase the amount of variables a player is now measured by.

The Actim Index Team of the Week is:

Goalkeeper: David James

Defenders: John O'Shea (Manchester United), Sami Hypia (Liverpool), Anton Ferdinand and Lucas Neil (West Ham)

Midfielders: Yossi Benayoun (West Ham), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United), Niko Kranjcar (Portsmouth), Francesc Fabregas (Arsenal)

Strikers: Jason Roberts (Blackburn Rovers), Robbie Keane (Tottenham Hotspur)

The list of the Top 100 players and Top 5 players by position will be available free of charge from the Actim website: www.pa-sport.com/en/products/actim-statistics.html which will be updated during the football season every Tuesday for the Barclays Premiership and every Thursday for The Coca-Cola Championship.
