Bentley Tipped for Great Things

Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts feels that David Bentley is so good that he could be "one of the greatest players of his generation!"

It is almost certain that after a fantastic season (proving anyone that doubted his ability wrong) Bentley will be crowned the Rovers Player of the Year and could very well be called up into England's next squad for the summer matches. With this in mind, when speaking to sky sports news Roberts said:

"Bents has been fantastic.

"He's a player who's got all the ability in the world and it wouldn't surprise me in a few years' time if you hear about David Bentley being spoken about as one of the great players of his generation because he's got that kind of ability
."

On his own partnership with Benni McCarthy, which has yielded six goals in four games Roberts added:

"We get on really well and he's a player that's got everything and achieved so much in the game. When we play together I feel really good about that.

"We've got some really good players at this club and you've got to do your job to stay in the team but when we do play together I think we really enjoy it
."

Recently this site seems to have turned into the "Vital Jason Roberts" website, but this is simply because he is in the news so much at the moment…

And here is yet more on him! His weekend double saw him not only make the Actim Index Team of the Week, but saw him voted statically the week's BEST player.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player's contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards. Two additional calculations, which take account of player assists and goalkeeper's clean sheets, have been added for the new season to increase the amount of variables a player is now measured by.

So after the analysis of the weekend's games Roberts was voted into the Team of the Week as the Player of the Week!

Lets hope JR is right with his analysis of Bents, he certainly has the potential to be one of the best of his time, let's just hope we see this, and see this with Rovers for MANY years to come yet. Also, congratulations to JR also on making this statistical team of the week, his partnership with Benni is starting to look quite formidable.

And what about that for getting the table into the text guys! It wasn't just a case of copying and pasting it into my article (It doesn't work like that with vital football) I had to use the computer language to get it right and got it first time, shame about the big gap between the text but don't know how to get round that. Man I'm well chuffed with that :)

superb HDM... I'm very proud... How far would Jason be up the ACTIM league if he had played all season???!!
MikeyGamst
Thank you MikeyGamst :) I'm not quite as happy now that my work has been overshadowed by the good staff of Vital Football, LOL! This site is becoming more and more "Vital Jason Roberts" by the day! I feel sure he would have been VERY much higher than he is had he been fit all season, and would have regularly made the Team of the Week.

exciting times for next season then, a fit JR, Benni and Derbs, how llong has it been since we had a strike force that truely looked impressive both on the park and on the paper?

Ages AustRover.... Maybe a new addition to the ranks as well to add to those 3? Bentley has been my Player of the Season. This time lasts eason people were questioning him and saying he couldnt hold down a regular position in the side but has played all but 1 game at right midfield this year... superb.

That extra striker, even if only a loan will complete the jixsaw won't it. As for Bents EASILY player of the season, as I said within the article if proves those doubters were further wide of the mark than a Shabani Nonda effort at goal :)
