Tugay: I'm Worth a New Deal

As Blackburn Rovers close in on a new deal for veteran midfielder Tugay, the maestro insists he is worth this.

The 36-year-old Turkish International is out of contract in the summer and after appearing odds on to extend his stay there was a short period when things looked up in the air. However, with a new deal close Tugay insists he can still cut it in the Premiership. He said:

"I think I can continue for two more years at this level. I am hoping to stay, as the Premiership is where every player wants to be.

"The club has become like a second family to me. I am happy both on and off the pitch. There has never been any reason for me to want to leave here
."

Tugay has been outstanding for the club, the £1.3 million paid for him in the summer of 2001 looked a real bargain at the time and so it has proved.

Let's get this deal sorted (maybe even give him the two-years he wants, but unlikely?!?!) then finish the season strong (with the help of the Maestro) then look forward to a great season next term. We will hopefully be able to use Tugay more sporadically next season, which should see him even more effective.

maybe a sqaud player for you, but if you want to push on to top 6...

If injuries don't trouble us next season I can see many players being used as "squad players" as hopefully we'll be able to rotate more.
