Speedie Tipping Rovers… Just!

Former Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea forward David Speedie has tipped Rovers to advance to the FA Cup Final, but does he really believe this?!?!

The former Scottish International, who was a firm crowd favourite with both Rovers and Chelsea has given an in-depth interview to the Lancashire Telegraph and among a host of things, confessing that he had his most enjoyable season of his career whilst with Rovers in our promotion season for one, he tipped Rovers to just edge out Chelsea on Sunday.

When asked - so, to put you on the spot, what do you predict for Sunday? Which one of your old clubs will triumph on the day?

Speedie said:

"It's difficult to call. I've got a foot in both camps so I don't really care who wins. I love Chelsea, and I love Blackburn. My head says Chelsea, but my heart probably says Blackburn because I'd love to see them win something this season. Chelsea have already won one cup and they're still going well in the Premiership and the Champions League. So, on that basis, I'll maybe edge towards Blackburn."

I'm not overly convinced that Speedie genuinely believes what he says (hence my but does he really believe it?!?!). you can't help be think it could be more of a case of him hoping as opposed to genuinely believing. He'll win either way won't he!

Yep - I think he's (very bravely) stating who he wants to win it instead of who he thinks will. By my reckoning, Chelsea have enough chances of making him a happy man - He obviously still has a soft spot for both teams, so may as well cheer us on as this one is our only opportunity. (Even if he'd said Chelsea by 4 to nil he'd still be a bit of a Rovers Hero though. )
Head Rover Heels
Certainly would be Head Rover Heels!

I have a very sneakey feeling that this could be our weekend. I hope so, I want it so bad, and I believe it will be....

I'm still only hopeful at the moment I'm afraid, certainly upped from my 50:50 at the start of the week though! The poll is suggesting it will be close, and it will!!! I still think what happens in the first Semi Final may have a major role to play in the outcome of ours?!?!

I think if Watford win then that is bad news for us... you rarely see two shocks in a row and Chelsea would get a wake up call....
MikeyGamst
There is that of course Mikey but I was thinking more in terms of a Manure win assures us a place in the UEFA Cup doesn't it! So as if we needed any more incentive to want to win (an FA Cup Final SHOULD be enough!) the fact that we have what is so important to the club next season if we make it should make the players even more determined to win, know what I mean? On the other hand maybe a Watford win could (although unlikely) see Chelsea relax thinking they have the Cup in the bag?!?!
