Benni STAYING With Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have been quick to dismiss any chance of Benni McCarthy moving to Manchester United, or anyone else for that matter during the summer.

A source, said to be close to Rovers has been quick to counter any thoughts that McCarthy could be set for a quick Rovers exit by saying comments attributed to McCarthy "were taken out of context". This source said:

"There's nothing in this as far as we are concerned.

"We fully expect Benni to be with us next season, and that's certainly what the manager and the board are planning for."

McCarthy's comments were apparently published firstly in the Manchester United match day programme at the weekend, ahead of the Premiership clash. They then appeared in the national press on Monday.

Whenever a player, especially a star player comes out with such comments your first reaction is, are they true or not. Being in an offical Manchester United programme you would think yes. So personally I'm not sure these have been taken out of context too much. From what I've seen, in fairness to the press (who can be awful!) the same quotes from the programmes interview (I've not seen the programme so I couldn't say if the interview was originally in it or not?) are the same quotes being used without putting too much spin on it, other than the obvious, "Rovers fear losing McCarthy" etc.

Players have to have aspiration and levels to set themselves but the constant thoughts from Rovers players expressing desires to play elsewhere are beginning to annoy me a little. We will ALWAYS find it hard to keep hold of our best players, we're not naive enough to think otherwise, but while they are wearing the blue and white halves of Rovers they should focus purely on that. Have their dreams and set their targets but maybe keep more of them to themselves…

Lads lets stop leaving yourselves open for attacks by keeping your "dreams" to yourselves. As I say we all know we will find it hard to keep hold of our top, top players but we don't need to hear them saying what we pretty much know. While Rovers PAY their wages let's think about the here and now, maybe not the will be. Same goes for Sparky really, we all know he wants to go back to Man United one day but he doesn’t have to keep reminding us!!!

You would expect the club to say nothing less than they have, I'm not suggesting that they are lying but if McCarthy were to leave in the summer they wouldn't be saying so yet would they!!! Personally I'm still not quite sure, still have this feeling that he may well move on in the summer. Maybe this is a worry after what happened with Bellers last summer?!?!
Hughes Da Man
think he could leave still to be honest, as you say the club wouldn't say if he was leaving anyway

Hope he doesn't but I'm growing ever more concerned that he will! Bloody hell Freddie what you doing (England have lost another wicket).

It's the worst way to lose but pride was restored. sasman your Aussies are looking untouchable but I just have this feeling (maybe more hope than anything!) that we may just pull off an amazing return and make it through to the Semi Final's. For the tournaments sake I genuinely think England need to stay in as the crowd add something special to games, as do the Aussies, not taking anthing away from the South African's, New Zealander's or Sri Lankan's though. The English crowd will stay behind even if we go but not in as many numbers. COME ON ENGLAND!
