Ooijer Rules Out Rovers Return

Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer has admitted that a return from injury this season if highly unlikely.

Dutch International Ooijer, who had a torrid start to his Rovers career before fully establishing himself in the side, has been out since January. With Ryan Nelsen returning we were looking forward to seeing how the two played together but sadly a broken fibula and ankle ligament damage, sustained against Manchester City robbed us of this for this season, or so we thought. Hopes had been raised he would return towards the end of the season but this has now been virtually ruled out by the play himself.

Ooijer said:

"We might make it to the cup final. We all want to be there and that could put some injection into it [the rehab] .

"But I don't think I'm going to get anything out of this season.

"You always hope so because it [the diagnosis] was four months and I'm two-and-a-half now and there's one month to go until the end of the season.

"If everything goes well, maybe I can train at the end of the season. But I don't think so.

"My goal is the start of next season."

This doesn't come as too much of a surprise to me if I'm honest though. Let's just hope Ooijer comes back next season as good as he was looking before his injury, but where will he fit into the side? Have your say below…

Good luck in the recovery Andre we'll win the Cup for you. With his injury the wall came in and has done a GREAT job! Andre was looking the business in the end after a dodgy start but where will he fit in next season? As well as Brett has done he may be sacrificed at right-back?!?!

Why not, we may have been stuffed at Old Trafford yesterday but if we don't believe we can beat Chelsea and United (if they even beat Watford!) what's the point in even turning up!
