Zurab Wants Rangers Return…One Day!

Blackburn Rovers defender Zurab Khizanishvili has revealed that he would like to return to Scottish football with former club Glasgow Rangers… one day!

With Scotland facing Georgia in a recent European Championship Qualifier, thus seeing Zurab returning to Scotland with the Georgian squad he was always likely to be subject to interest from the media, and so it proved.

Before falling out of favour at Ibrox and moving to Ewood Park, initially on loan and then on a permanent basis, Zurab was a regular in the Rangers side, winning a Scottish Championship during his time. Zurab is more than happy with Rovers but has admitted he would one day like to return to Rangers before his career is over:

"I would love to come back and play for Rangers.

"I am only 25 and I don't want to think too far ahead yet but I would love to return to Ibrox one day."

Zurab is a very important member of the Rovers squad and although not a favourite of everyone's, probably not an assured first team player when all are fit, he will not let us down and I have no problems with him stepping in as and when needed. As such I hope and feel sure he will remain a part of the Rovers squad for a long time to come.

Some may object to Zurab's comments, but not me. You can't begrudge him expressing his desire to one-day return to a former club can you? Players and managers do this all the time, our own David Dunn expressed his desire long before he returned!

It's not as if he's said "I want to go back" like Mammies boy did. It's a fair comment really, and i can completely understand him wanting another bash up there - He left under a cloud of failure (However unfair that may have been) and i'm sure he would love to prove McLeish wrong. Still, as mentioned, i see him as an incredibly valuable member of the squad.

He'll be here for some time yet, and rightly so. One day he can return to boost his trophy cabinet some more, adding to this season's FA Cup and UEFA and League Cup's down the line :)

Err, OK he wants to go back and prove he wasnt a failure, hasnt he already done that with what he has achieved and still achieving with Rovers? SPL vs Prem? no contest IMO.

True BomBom. Most players (even Lorezno Amoruso :) LOL) are made to look good in Scotland, which I say with all due respect to the Scottish game.

What respect? Scottish football is a joke, same as welsh football is. The premiership is going the same way, same 4-5 clubs up top every year, same 6-10 clubs yoyoing between divisions, the only thing that changes is occasionally, one of the others "break" the mould for a season when one of the big ones under perform and pinch a CL place or one big team under performs and gets dragged into a rellie battle. Its kinda predictable, which is the problem in Scotland, its just the premiership has better players to be predictable with!

Well English football is what I've been brought up with so I'll always favour this over everything else and it will always be the one for me. Those brought up in Scotland follow obviously Scottish Clubs (on the whole) so when people knock their League it hurts them. The standard is poor on the whole but is still a fair step up from the Welsh game. I don't think it is, and will be the same clubs going up and down in England, this won't be so predicatable. The top teams will remain the same until something is done to make it an more even playing field finance wise. But all this said it's only predicatable if you don't follow one of these top sides.

The welsh league is more akin to a semi pro borderline amateur competition. Not gonna argue with ya HDM but its not just finances that put the top clubs out of reach, its their marketing and popularity, otherwise why did Glen Johnson, SWP, etc move to a big club when they had more chance of playin regular at their previous club. Money IS definatly a factor but not the only one.

It's never arguing though BomBom, it's debating, we've had many of these down the line, and long may they continue :)
