Jeffers Returning To Ipswich

Jeffers Returning To Ipswich

Blackburn Rovers forward Francis Jeffers is set to return to Ipswich Town, having made a quicker-than-expected recovery from his latest injury setback.

Only three games into his month-long loan with the Championship side a hamstring injury appeared to have cut short not only his loan, but also possibly the remainder of his 2006-2007 season. However, with Jeffers recovering well and his loan arrangement not due to officially expire until the weekend Ipswich are likely to extend this after he returned to Portman Road to continue his rehabilitation with them.

Jeffers may have only made three appearances, his first coming as a substitute, his second gave him a start and a goal, with his third and final (again a start) seeing him injured but he has made quite an impact on Ipswich boss Jim Magilton, who is keen to have him back:

"Much depends on the injury and what Blackburn say but we would love to have Franny here for the rest of the season."

Jeffers added:

"I'm recovering quicker than I expected and have come back to Ipswich for the physio staff to have a look at how things are progressing.

"I'm here for the week to continue my rehab and we'll take it from there."

It is still unlikely that Jeffers has a future at Ewood Park, most agree on this (even if we do feel for him somewhat) especially with the emergence of our own "Fox in the Box" Matt Derbyshire, but with Rovers still having him under contract should he recover and perform for Ipswich maybe he will still have a way back…

As before I wish Jeffers good luck, I genuinely hope he can do well and can prove he's worth a chance here at Ewood Park but can't see it. If he starts playing and scoring it will help his confidence but to then come back and sit on the bench again will not do anybody any good. Chances are he will do well and then sign for Ipswich or not do so well return to Ewood before joining another Championship side (or maybe a newly promoted Premiership side?) in the summer?!?!

I wish Jeffers all the luck as I think this is the last we see of him, it's down to him now to build his career back up, we took a gamble on him and I feel he didnt take the chance he was given, granted he ahd a few games but im sure he could have pushed Nonda more with Roberts out and Derbyshire not yet on this amazing run of his. I hope Jeffers gets his career back on track as he has had a nitemare of it lately.

It's always a shame when a player with such potential gets lost so badly (from my point of view for England Internationally if nothing else) isn't it. Good luck to him he'll do a fine job in the Championship I'm sure. He's still young enough to make it back to the Premiership but for me needs a season or two at that level to regain some form and confidence.
