ALL Of Hughes' Rovers Signings Good

ALL Of Hughes' Rovers Signings Good

Always keen to see what you, the members of Vital Blackburn have to say I am delighted to bring you Clint's thoughts on a recent poll.

Was the recent poll asking who has been Mark Hughes' best Rovers signing really fair? Clint points out just why he thinks the poll was unfair highlighting the qualities and attributes ALL names bring to Rovers.

David Bentley has really flourished under Hughes and the fact that he now has regular football and a regular position. He will definitely be an England regular in the near future and he should be as he has all the ability in the world, added creativity to the midfield and has a great cross as well.

Craig Bellamy was a revelation for the club, with the help of his goals we qualified for Europe and we were unlucky to lose him, as if it wasn't for Liverpool he would have stayed, although unlike Lucas Neill at least he was truthful about his move - saying it was to play for a team he always supported - anyway I think Hughes really turned his career around and he played a belter at our club for a season - has kind of lost his way again at Liverpool, in and out of the team, so lets hope he comes back to Rovers and we get to pair him up with Benni, mouth-watering aint it?!?!

Benni McCarthy is probably the best buy for £2.5m in the history of Rovers if not the Premiership, he can score goals, hold up the ball and link very well with the midfield. Not too sure on the heading ability and sometimes he looks disinterested but you cannot fault him for his goals ratio in his 1st season in England. He should go on to get better next season with Rovers. I really reckon that if by some luck we can pair him and Craig Bellamy up next season, with Matt Derbyshire and Jason Roberts to fill in then Rovers will have one of the best strike forces in the league, maybe even Europe??

Ryan Nelsen has been brilliant no doubt, has shored up the back line and is a commanding figure, definitely one of the best ever free buys ever!

Robbie Savage does the donkey work in midfield that goes un-noticed by a lot, especially outside Rovers, but again this was likewise when he was at Leicester and Birmingham. But again he has brought at lot of bite to our team.

I take it the "others" would have included:

Stevie Warnock - He will add to the team with his runs and the ability to defend. pinched under the noses of Liverpool as my mate is a massive 'Pool fan and was raging when we got Stevie, so you can tell just from that, especially as Warnock didn't play a lot for Liverpool

Chris "the Wall" Samba - God he's massive but is quick and has talent as well, next season I think we are going to see the best of his partnership with Nelsen when they develop that all important understanding and at only 22-years-old Rovers will see the best of an outstanding young talent

Aaron Mokoena - I know a lot do not like him but I think its a bit like Savage as folk miss a lot of what he does, now he's not as good at the spoiling as Savage, not many are, but he brings something else, I think he's a better tackler! Saying he doesn't get a good run of games most of the time I think he plays well when needed.

Jason Roberts - I do really, really think that he will come good next season, he's been very unlucky with injuries and this being his 1st season with the team its hard for fans to take to him as they have nothing to compare with. But he's quick, strong and can score goals in the Premier League, which Rovers fans will see I'm so sure of it.

So you see that's why the poll was unfair. Out of all the players I mentioned they all add to the Rovers team and without them we wouldn't be where we are - separately they are all good and some I suppose are seen to do better than others but I don't think you could pick one out of his buys as his best as they all contribute to the picture as a whole. Again this is only my view.

I'm sure I've missed a couple and bored you to tears but I was bored in work and this helped me get to lunchtime lol

It was a very tough thing to call wasn't it, I fully agree that most, in fact almost ALL of Sparky's signings have been good so to single anyone out was very tough. Even so the Admiral would have to be the one for me, the five "top" names mentioned have all added more than enough to be classed as just that, the best, but as I say the Admiral is just the one for me. Maybe I'm biased, as I'm a defender!

See Hughes Da man I play as a defender too and will always single out them first but im so sure in my mind that all the signings are really important in their own ways and could not single out one for special praise, now some have been seen to do more but they all have their part too play. oh and u didnt have to put the lunch and bored bit in lol but cheers anyway mate

well thats true but who knows wot Mido could have done as a regular starter at Rovers?? he was better for Spurs last season, but then with Berbatov in such good form he hasnt had a look in, but no I would nt swap him for Benni, maybe play him with him but def not swap

its a valid point last year i was one of mido's biggest fans. the thing is he has had his chances and not taking them, he very rarely looks interested on the pitch, and the problem you have with him is once he gets injured the pounds pile on. shadow of the player he was last year. mccarthy is superb a great buy, i reall rate hughes as a manager, that samba looks pretty tasty too

For me the Admiral does deserve special praise, well they all do but the Admiral just adds something special to the defence. He's one of best (not saying the best) signings in this clubs history, in my opinion so will obviously rate very highly in Sparky's signing stakes, again in my opinion.

Mido just doesn't stay or settle anywhere, this is why I'm glad Rovers didn't sign him. He probably would have had a good season but would he have done it again next season, the one after? I don't think so he would have left after a year or two. He's a good player but just doesn't have the right attitude for me. Sparky picks up these gems for next to nothing doesn't he buckers_07, he'll go onto be one of the VERY best!

Mido can get stuffed. Anyone who thinks our club aint good enough isnt good enough them selves. Look he is way down the peckin order at spurs, he can go back oversease as that sort of player has no role in our club. I personally voted for Robbie Savage. Sav is the most influential man on the paddock, one of out greatest signings, and like myself, plays the holding role in midfield, never givin up always doin the dirty work. WHy dont we make out very own vital football team hahaha. I can play up front if needed

You get straight to the point sasman, I have similar feeling towards Mido muself. It is down to him that we missed out on stengthening the midfield las summer as he played us for so log before deciding he wanted to "stay and fight for a place with Roma" when he was only holding out for the Spurs move. Wasting time on him cost us a midfield or midfilders signing. But hey we got Benni McGoalmachine didn't we.
