Greatest Ever Rovers Squad: Forwards

As you know we at Vital Blackburn are trying to put together our Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad. The forward's names have been suggested so the voting can start soon.

After looking through the names you, the vital Blackburn members suggested; these came up:

Craig Bellamy
Tommy Briggs
Andy Cole
Matt Derbyshire
Paul Dickov
Paul Gallagher
Simon Garner
Ted Harper
Matt Jansen
Benni McCarthy
Andy McEvoy
Mike Newell
Egil Ostenstad
David Speedie
Alan Shearer
Chris Sutton
Roy Vernon
Ashley Ward
Roy Wegerle

From those names these are the options that will be available for you to vote on (in no preferential order, merely alphabetical)…

Tommy Briggs
Simon Garner
Mike Newell
David Speedie
Alan Shearer
Chris Sutton

Some of you mentioned the names more than once, but to be fair I've only taken into account the mention once from each member.

So you have brought the above into contention for the forward positions in the Greatest Ever Squad. Voting will start soon to determine which FOUR will take their place in the squad. So keep your eyes peeled to make sure you vote the men into the squad you want.

Just to recap this squad will comprise of the following:

3 Goalkeepers

2 Left-backs (or Wing-backs)
4 Centre-backs
2 Right-backs (or Wing-backs)

2 Left-midfielders (or Wingers)
4 Central Midfielders
2 Right-midfielders (or Wingers)

4 Forwards

Thanks for your efforts in contributing names; this has been VERY helpful during the selection process…

Some very good names to miss out but they didn't get the mentions needed, but let's just select the best four from these lot and take it from there. After this process the review of who has been selected will start, some players will stay some will go then we will select the Greatest XI.

just a suggestion - can Al Shearer get a by into the squad? As we all know he is the greatest ever to grace a blue and white shirt and the premiership! that then leaves us to vote for all the other contenders.

Just like everyone else he has to earn his place (of course he will though!) so no bye given. I'd go as far as saying he's arguably the greatest ever striker to grace the Premiership full stop!?!? Don't forget you CAN vote for the four you want in, you can't just vote for one. We are looking for four to make the squad so vote ALL four you want in. These will have to be voted on each time you login though as you can only vote once per visit.
