Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley has become the first Englishman to score at the new Wembley.
Bentley took his place in the starting XI for England in their under-21 friendly with Italy this lunchtime as the curtain was raised at the new home of English football Wembley… FINALLY!
Things didn't start as planned and we found ourselves behind after less than a minute. We have come back into the game and rightly got the equaliser we deserved through our man David Bentley with one of his trademark free kicks. The match currently stands at 1-1 at half time with Bentley being England's, if not the games premier performer, almost scoring a second.
So Blackburn Rovers have had their name written in the record books thanks to another free kick of the highest order from David Bentley who becomes the first English footballer to score at Wembley.
But should Bentley have been part of the senior England side (at least squad) that takes on Israel this evening… on current form, and no bias being shown you have to again say yes.
Don't forget "Walkerbout" Sunday Evening in the forum between 6pm & 8pm. I DO HOPE THAT MANY ROVERS FANS AND ANY OTHER VITAL FOOTBALL FANS FOR THAT MATTER WILL TURN UP. Topics up for debate are down to you! For more information click here
