Rovers Spurn Carlisle's Advances

Rovers Spurn Carlisle's Advances

Blackburn Rovers have rejected Carlisle's attempts to turn youngster Joe Garner's current loan move with the League One side into a permanent one.

Carlisle manager Neil McDonald, a young manager that I personally think will go on to very big things, has had the Rovers Academy graduate on loan. This loan has seen him score three goals in ten appearances for the promotion chasing League One outfit. McDonald said:

"I enquired but it has come back from Blackburn that they do not want to sell Joe at the minute.

"He has only just signed a new contract there and they want to keep hold of him while he is developing."

I can see Garner (and another youngster Raffaele Da Vita) having an impact similar to Matt Derbyshire in the next year or so, hopefully this will be at Ewood Park and not elsewhere…

I'm happy for Garner to be out on loan, advancing his career and getting valuable first team football which will only benefit him and us ultimately. As I say I can see him (and Raffaele Da Vita) having an impact similar to Derbs shortly if they are gradually given the chance. Like Derbs Garner HAS been scoring goals for fun in the reserves etc. 3 in 10 at League One level isn’t too shabby either is it!!!

Therea alot of experienced strikers that would kill to have 3 in 10 at the min, I agree with the kids going out on loan. The manager can see wot kids will cut it and who wont when they are playing competive matches. I think the same as Hughes Da Man in I believe that Garner and Da Vita will come along and hit the 1st team with bang in the future but not just yet, maybe year after next!

I havent seen the lad but from what ive heard hes a great little prospect, along with Da Vita. Wopuld be nice to see them given the chance just like Eddie Nolan as it always helps aid development. Looks as if we may have a bright future if these kids can carry on progressing!

I'm sure in the coming season or so we'll see many of these young prospects gradually eased in.
