Rovers Let Jeffers Join Ipswich

Blackburn Rovers have allowed striker Francis Jeffers to join Ipswich Town on a month loan.

The former Everton, Arsenal, Charlton Athletic and England International arrived at Ewood Park on a free transfer in the summer having been released by Charlton at the end of the 2005-2006 campaign with hopes that maybe, just maybe Mark Hughes may be able to bring out the best of Jeffers.

However after struggling to force himself into regular contention he has seen little first team football again this term, playing only fifteen times starting only three games scoring the solitary goal, a penalty in the UEFA Cup. In fairness to Jeffers he has been troubled with a groin injury so this hasn't helped.

So in order to play some first team football Jeffers has been allowed to join Championship outfit Ipswich on a month's loan.

What will come of this loan I am not sure, if an extension is possible I would not be in the least bit surprised to see him stay at Portman Road for longer; maybe even permanently? On the other hand regular first team football and a run of games could be exactly what he needs so if he gets this under Jim Magilton he may start finding the net to boost his confidence then who knows what might happen?

Could we still see a return of the "fox in the box", does Jeffers still have a future at Ewood or will he merely play out the season before being released in the summer? Have your say below…

I had hoped for good things from Jeffers but didn't hold out much hope after the last 5 years or so of his career. Injuries haven't helped, nor has the emergence of Derbs (from Jeffers' point of view.) He needed a run of games as he has shown some signs of pure quality again. I always look to the positives a run of games for Ipswich and maybe some goals could work wonders and he could yet return and still cut it at Ewood Park but I'm just not sure we'll see him at Ewood Park again; at least not in a Rovers shirt, I'd like to hope I'm wrong?!?!

I don't really think that would help. The injuries were far too heavy in this case. Cant see him in the rotation for next season when we have McCarthy, Derbs, Roberts and perhaps a good forward instead of Nonda. Good luck anyway.

"A good forward instead of Nonda"!? Nonda IS a good forward but if Jason Roberts returns to his best form then with McC, Derb's and Rob's to select from, I see Nonda as a playmaker. I would like to see him work closely with Tugay in training, with a view to adding Tugays skills to his own for the future. He is a good player and could well develop into a Rovers great.

I think this is of no suprise what so ever. i am not normally cynical but he was a small gamble that didnt really work out. The emergence of Matty D has hampered any serious chance of making the first team

whooa whooa whooa............ it's not that long since no options in the forwards we selected was causing concern! Keep them all! it's good jeffers has gone out on loan he needs matches, and if I had the option i'd send Roberts too! lets face it the more players who are getting matches, prepared to fight for a place, get them fit (MATCH FIT) competing against each other............

waterfall- Nonda as a playmaker????!?!?! U gotta be kidding. Either you've never seen him playing or you don't really understand football. the guy can hardly pass the ball. He is strong and quick but that has nothing to do with the playmaker's job.

Roberts proved again that he is on his way today. He looks strong and when he gets matches under his belt he will be satrting alongside Benni/Matty. He has qualities no other Rovers forwards have.

Yeah I wasn't surprised to hear that he had gone out on loan. I hope he does well there and recovers his sharpness and maybe he could weigh in with a couple of goals before the season is through. Unlikely I'll admit but I wish him all the best.

I'd say I tend to lean towards Israeli's thinking regards Nonda and being a playmaker but only because from what I've seen he couldn't string enough passes together to do the job. I'm a BIG fan of JR's he's getting back totally agree MickeyGamst. Good luck Franny maybe we'll see you back... but I doubt it?!?!

Yeah look its always good to remember that for every signing like Benni McC there is always a Franni Jef signing around the corner. I was hopeful that if anyone was going to be able to reserect the career of a once quality frward it was going to be with Sparky but alas no and I think this may be the last we see of Jeffers in a Rovers shirt. Hope I am wrong but good luck to him I am not.
