Another fantastic performance from new Blackburn Rovers signing Christopher Samba has earned him high praise from boss Mark Hughes once again.
After a Man of the Match performance again Arsenal in our 1-0 FA Cup fifth round replay victory at Ewood Park on Wednesday night Samba once again showed real class as his partnership with Ryan Nelsen continues to blossom following another solid defensive performance from Rovers before substitute Benni McCarthy's late winner to set up a Quarter Final tie with Manchester City.
Hughes said:
"I thought we were rock-solid again. Chrissy Samba and Ryan Nelsen were again very very solid."
"I think we've got a real player in Chris Samba, he is still just a young man and he's playing against top quality player who have a lot of knowledge of this league and what it takes to win games in FA Cup ties, but he stood up to the challenge.
"I thought we reacted off him, he was so strong we expected him to win things and we were able to break and counter-attack from him.
"Right across the back I thought we were excellent, we unfortunately had to make a change at half-time as Stephen Warnock wasn't very well at all and had to come off, so we had to cope with that but did so very well."
What a signing Christopher "the Beast" Samba is looking, with all due respect he made Julio "the Beast" Baptista look like a mere pussy cat at times! Samba (no doubt a gentle giant) is looking like yet another jewel in Sparky's crown and all I can say is Hertha Berlin must have some mighty fine defenders to have allowed Samba to leave and for a mere fee of around £400,000...
Don't forget "Walkerbout" Sunday Evening in the forum between 6pm & 8pm. I DO HOPE THAT MANY ROVERS FANS; AND ANY OTHER VITAL FOOTBALL FANS FOR THAT MATTER WILL TURN UP. Current topics up for debate are the FA Cup replay with Arsenal, the upcoming Premiership match with Bolton Wanderers and the Beast himself Christopher Samba! For more information click here
