Ryan Nelsen One of the Best…Ever!

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has hailed Ryan Nelsen as one of the best free transfer signings ever; also admitting how important it was to have retained his services last summer.

Ryan "the Admiral" Nelsen, a free transfer signing from American Major League side DC United was linked to a £5 million pound move to Sunday afternoon's opponents Portsmouth last summer but their advances were spurned and thank fully so as since his return he has shown just why we have missed him so much.

Hughes rates the Admiral as one of the best free transfer signings ever and not many could disagree could they? Hughes said:

"Having just lost Craig Bellamy to Liverpool last summer, it would have been careless to lose Ryan as well.

"It was strong interest from Portsmouth and big numbers were being talked about but it was important that the club were strong enough to turn it down.

"I recently heard Glenn Roeder saying that taking Antoine Sibierski to Newcastle on a free transfer was the best free signing of the season.

"But Ryan has to be the best free transfer ever - considering the impact he has made since arriving.

"He had never played at this level before but adapted quickly and is a fantastic addition to the squad."

Could not agree more with Sparky, could you? As always leave your thoughts below...

What a player and inspirational leader. He's good enough for anyone in this League, luckily we have him!

dam it HDM... that was my cue. lol!!! Things look oh so better defensively with God at the back. He is nearly match fit now as well. The game against Arsenal confirmed he had arrived at God form.
